Referee needed for License Renewal?

Post by NewShooterGirl » 20 Jan 2020, 5:07 pm

Hi everyone :welcome:

Just a really quick question for those who have gone through the process of renewing their firearm licenses already...

When your firearm license is up for renewal, do you need a referee again?

Because my referee was my doctor, she's the one who certified/vouched for my identity, however she's retiring in 2x years time
(Which means that I wont have a referee once she retires...)

Please note;
I made a thread earlier today regarding this topic, but I think I worded it wrong, hence why I deleted the old one and made this one right here

Thank you to anyone who can help regarding this topic/answering my question

That is great news! Thank you for answering my question OldBloke! That is a gigantic relief! :mrgreen: If having a referee again was a requirement for license renewals, then that potentially could've been a problem for me.. because like I said, my referee is retiring in 2x years time.. but all good, all is well. Thank you OldBloke! Good on ya :mrgreen: :geek:

Yep, silly question I know but if your Doctor friend retires in 2 years why does that make her ineligible to be a referee for you or anybody else?

Because, according to Victorian law, your referee needs to be either a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, psychologist, police officer, pastor, priest, post office manager, bank manager, etc but they have to be currently employed in that specific role I do believe (at the time where they sign your documents/application vouching for your identity etc) You know Australia with all the red tape..... :crazy:

Try going for a hand gun licence and find two referees who will confirm your good character and have known you for two years.
