Transferring firearm from Victoria to NSW

Post by Hammar » 04 May 2020, 10:05 pm

So I'm a NSW handgun shooter waiting for my full licence to get authorised (within the next month hopefully), but a few months ago I put down a deposit on a pistol at a Victorian dealer, then eventually decided to just buy it outright so I wouldn't have to worry about someone else grabbing it. This was all before the pandemic lockdowns and Victorian dealers got f***ed over and closed down.
Now would I be right in presuming, that if the dealers are still closed by the time I get my PTA issued so I can get the pistol I already bought, I'd still have to wait for dealers to be allowed to operate before we can complete the purchase and transfer ownership and transfer to NSW?
Remember, even when those who move you be kings, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus" or that "virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice.

Check with your Victorian dealer and see if he can transfer the gun to a NSW dealer - which he would normally have to do anyway. If he can transfer you will need to get your local dealers information and send it to the Vic dealer. He will then send the gun to your local guy and you pick it up from him when your PTA comes through.
