Don't put the locked toolbox inside the safe where your guns are as added security or you will be busted, on top of or beside the safe is fine.

I hope that everyone is well
I just have a quick question
I live in Victoria
I bought a little safe that I was planning on using for a bit of extra ammo storage
When it comes to the "rifle safe"
If it's less than 150kg
Then obviously that needs to be bolted into the frame or slab of the house
That's obvious
However
When it comes to "ammo safes"
Do they need to be bolted to the house too?
The legislation seems to say that the ammo needs to be in a "locked container" but that's it
It doesn't seem to elaborate on it
It doesn't actually say anything about having to bolt it to the house or anything like that
What do you guys reckon?

Although the way prices are heading we might all be locking our ammo in the safes and leaving our other valuables in plain sight to distract thieves away from our precious ammunitions!TheFirearmEnthusiast wrote:Hey guys

Yes I was told by an officer only six months ago that even those plastic Pelican cases and even the small 50 round 223 ammo containers that have the two tabs to put a padlock in like this is supposably secure and legal .
He just looked at me and said is that a lock container I went yep he said so it's legal.
This is my collection depending on the day

There is a lot more then 2 areas not classified as deer habitat in Victoria, it's about half the state.
All the dark areas on this map aren't recognised deer habitat.
