"Spud guns" are NOT firearms

Haven't seen this reported elsewhere.
Perhaps a bit off common sense from the judiciary?

I almost feel sorry for whoever was trying to prosecute this.
It’s like a Monty Python sketch.
“Your honour, a lethal assault rifle “
“No it isn’t”
“But it floats, therefore, it must be…
I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned

Spud cannons are absolutely lethal.
You get the air/fuel right and those suckers will send spuds, fruit, frozen fruit, bottles and whatever else will fit neatly inside at speeds that make tracking the projectile by eye difficult. It's amazing the things don't explode into pieces more often... dangerous AF

They fit the definition of a firearm without an issue "capable of propelling a projectile by means of an explosive"
However I do agree with his suggestion that they would be a better fit in " dangerous articles’ under the Control of Weapons Act 1990.” rather than cat E

Don't mess with PVC cannons, they are extremely dangerous for the user and could easily cost you your firearm licence.

The common theme seems to be regulate regulate regulate and then regulate the regulations
