Steyr Aug Z SP legal in Australia?

Questions about Victorian gun and ammunition laws. Victorian Firearms Act 1996.

By any rational definition these should be legal as they're just another straight pull like several others hunting rifles which are legal.

Based on the military appearance though this will never be allowed here.

Further to what Lyam said, JSCOBZ.

This is from the Victorian Police website.

Amendments made in 2008 to the Firearms Act 1996 gave the Chief Commissioner of Police limited powers to re-classify firearms. As the Chief Commissioner's delegate, the Superintendent of LRD may re-classify firearms that are ordinarily a category A, B or C longarm into a category D or E longarm. These may happen when a firearm has been designed or adapted for military purposes or substantially duplicates a 'militaristic-type' firearm in design, function or appearance.

That 'appearance' catch all will never let any of these things through.

Isn't the other one too if it's in use by any Military globally it can be disallowed too?

I saw something a while ago about NSW banning one because the US military use it in ceremony still.

This made it a "military" firearm

I think that's the M14 you're thinking off.

Steve Lee did a bit on it a while ago because he had to give his up.
