Very few from that source actually, the bulk of the buy backs ended up in the hands of the TNI.

If only 3% of firearms stolen were used to commit a crime, where does the other 97% come from? :?

Those 97% are used to commit crimes in the future, to intimidate other associates in drug rings or bikie gangs or whatever, and are not likely to be easily accounted for. Heck some are probably never going to do anything sinister at all.

Police believe these plastic parts are the components of a homemade gun.

Can anyone identify a single one of those pieces as anything out of a firearm?

That's a relief. Anyone recall the story a year or so back about the post office in the Sydney suburb that was raided and they found about 20 Glocks there. That's where they come from.

More than that mate.

They reckon it was over 100 by the time they've investigated more.

They just keep whacking 'em in containers and sending 'em over. A few get though, in fact quite a few get through. That's where they come from. Anywhere but from within Australia.

dono but apparently a port Arthur firearm used was later identified by its previous owner from unique markings which was surrendered into police to be destroyed a month before the massacre occurred.

but I'm sure there was plenty of discrepancies that day...to many.
