I think it somewhat sad that nowhere in the job description does it ask "do you know anything about firearms?". Written by a team of HR "outcome deliverers" in bureaucratese to entice a descendant of the Golgafrincham B Ark. Nevertheless I'm going to email every Police Officer in the club begging them to apply for the job!

Full term fixed contract for 12 months. Sounds like a long service leave (or similar) back fill to me.

I've got to say, with the dishonourable exception of "this one time....." the staff at the firearms dept here have been very friendly, helpful and professional in my experiences to date with them. Even the cops and support staff in the local police station have been friendly and helpful when I've taken rifles in to be registered. I know that this is what we should be able to expect, but I am often disappointed by the rude and unhelpful behaviour of people in front counter service positions.
