There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Geeeeeze, you'd think it would be easier to build the tower upright in the right place.

What a machine to build for lifting up a tube.

My brother spent three months "assembling" a 650 tonne luffing tower crane from the same company. When they finished they had to do "testing" with a 75 tonne load. It took the weight and then something went "bang" and 130m of crane jib came down from 60m in the air. Turned out the factory hadn't welded some attachments on properly. Back to square one.
Some very red-faced company execs.

So what did they do - Stand around with their hands behind their back while shuffling dirt with their feet and whistling innocently  ?

Noisydad, the sh*t certainly hit the fan! I did have a photo he sent me before the scene was "quarantined" but it was on an old phone and I can't find it.
My brother had done the rigging on the test load and had the 90mm winch cable go whistling past his head when the boom failed. He reckoned there was no point running, might have run into trouble. :o
The boom came down on top of a 100t crane that the operator had just stepped out of to have a smoke!
That bloke had to be taken to hospital in shock.
