30 mm rock

A while back when I got home and parked in the carport, my partner called out and asked, "What the hell happened there ??"
She was pointing at the front of my ute.

I got out to see what she was on about,,,,, and there was a 30 mm rock wedged in the hole in my headlight protector.

Beats the hell outa me,,, cos I didn't hear or feel the impact.
The protector did a good job though because the headlight itself was undamaged.

A new set of protectors now installed,,,,,, and cheaper by far than having to buy a new headlight.

Not impossible,,,, but highly unlikely.
Although I still can't understand how I never heard or felt any impact,,, after all when you cop just one of those little ones that chip your windscreen they almost sound like bullet strike.

was probably cabbage moth, them toyotas are delicate these days.

haha dont discount big stones from cars/trucks, but usually a bigger problem in summer when tyres are hot enough to grab rocks like that and turf them a distance.

Yep, industrial dearness. Obviously need to give up shooting before your complety deaf and can't hear the Mrs put the hard word on you.

Had an oncoming truck on an outside bend thrown up a rock bigger than a golf ball once, thought it was going to come through the windscreen. Left a star the size of my fist in the screen.
