For those who have not hunted NZ or are unfamiliar with the DOC huts I thought I would post a pic. This is the last thar hunt location I did. Scone whataroa valley Hut looks boring as but looking out away from the hut , and most of the huts it’s bloody amazing scenery. Had a little bit of a look online but not yet found the hut we stayed in on first thar hunt rangitata valley

Most important shelter from wind rain and cold. Inside Vinyl clad foam mattresses For weary outdoors people ... bunks pots and pans combustion stove or wood heater Dry your socks and boots near the fire pre chopped Firewood outside if u are lucky. Outside toilet usually a running stream nearby... a visitors book. Rifle racks in the scone hut. Many yarns told inside these huts

This is a little bit kind of up market. Theres 3 huts nice toilets solar hot water for showers and also a room with a boiler in it for hot water if you want to fire it up. Theres a big shetlered area with basic sink and fire area for cooking no power each hut has 10 bunks and wood burner and you pay per hut. If you pay for all 3 huts you can have tents as well. Theres a river close and one of the huts, toilets and showers are set up for people with disabilitys as well. Theres hunting across the road mountain bike tracks and wallks as well the army also uses the camp a lot as well.

That sounds great. Mrs and I want to go back to NZ Sth Is for about 6 weeks. Have had a 2 week holiday on both Is. But Sth was magnificent. Probably hire an RV again.

Yea theres sheep everywhere down there we just did a 2 week trip down there a week going down the west coast and then a week coming up the east coast. Can recomend some cool places if any of you guys are thinking of coming over..
