Today I went up to Murray Bridge to see mum for mothers day,on the way back seen a HEAP of shaggy ink cap mushrooms growing on the side of the road so I did a U-ey and filled my hat with them for dinner, which will be those fish I caught the day before on metal lures I fitted with jig hooks

Well, pretty crazy week. I had oral surgery, pulled out an infected root canal tooth and in another spot had a titanium implant installed. Found the best oral surgeon within a reasonable drive and paid out a bunch of money, but he gave a cash discount which was nice as it's cheaper for them not to process insurance or credit cards. Looks like it went well and really the surgery wasn't bad, I could feel the drill drilling into my bone but no pain. I took 2 ibuprofen afterwards and am on antibiotics for a bit but everything seems to be healing well enough.

Haven't been able to do any shooting lately as it just keeps raining and raining. There is standing water everywhere and the creeks are flowing.

Well, today I've been poking around the scrub at my new workplace. Wish I'd been here a month ago. The amount of thrashed trees is astounding. But unfortunately all I've seen are birds, roos, and one fox that popped out of the scrub 20m away, looked at me a second, and bolted

As do Sambar.

Pity it’s the busy period over the rut.

Ordered a Lee classic for my 30-06, picked up some primers but will be back for more and some projectiles and powder after talking to two other shops. Not sure why one has primers and the other two couldn’t even say when they’d have some.

Unc has some 2206H and trail boss to play with, but I’ll probably just get a tin of 06H when I’m there so I’ll be set for a while.

Lee classic is how I started. Nothing wrong with that. But TBH better off just sourceing a press, RGB Lee dies and a set of scales. (Beam are best)

2206H is a great versatile powder, but 2208 & 2209 are both better for 30.06.

I use 2208 for both 223 and 30.06.

So I've heard. Plenty of cover and food during spring and summer.
Gotta love simplicity. I've got 2 bench mounted presses and I don't even use them,I use my Lee hand press that cost me $20

I picked up one of these a couple of months ago for $40 posted. Excellent condition. I reckon fine for FLS smaller cases, not sure about 30.06 tho.

I'm intending on running some reduced loads hence the 2206H and want to keep it simple to start off with by only having one powder. If(when) I want to poke out a bit further or start targeting big stags then I'll get some 2208.

Our parent company has a vineyard up in the hills they had to add extra fencing around to keep the deer out, wasn't too successful by all accounts

Was given some old components today.
Primers, About 350 LRP
Several 1lb cans of powder
Abt 80 bullets. 308 150gr. (various types)
40 223 cases. Look once fired.

So, sorting that lot out.

And

Marinating some Sambar back strap. Goes in the Webber shortly. ;)

2206 h is a good choice if you want to run with one powder. In reality 50fps wont make much of a difference. All I'm saying is in the long run it's better to buy a press etc.

Keep in mind I have NFI of your experience.

Reloading - zilch. No doubt on the press, but for $50 and change I can load some and have fun then if I want to get into it more, I can down the track.

I'm guessing 50fps would be inside the average hunting hand loading spread anyway :unknown: It may end up coming down to availability in the future :wtf:

Several days ago I began making a belt loop, with squared off ends, top and bottom. This requires the use of a home made contraption to mould the strip of leather, something I have not done for years. The loop maker (L.M.) was found easily enough being right where it was put years ago. The fun :wtf: started when I could not fathom what one of the parts was for, however, the loop turned out very nicely and it wasn't until a couple of days had passed, that it dawned on me that there was something missing
Yesterday and today, or parts thereof really, was spent on construction of the missing piece, as well as dealing with the hitches that plague my projects. Tomorrow should be the day when the complete L. M. will be tested.
