Taipan helicopters WTF

Post by Oldbloke » 17 Sep 2024, 11:36 am

As we know all the Taipan helicopters were dismantled and buried some time ago.Ukraine begged for them but were told by AU Gov they were unsafe.

ADF currently has SFA helicopters, perhaps a dozen at most.

After the 2 accidents investigations were undertaken and completed over a year ago. The Taipan helicopters were buried, importantly, AFTER the report was completed.

Guess what? Report indicates main causes were, poor training & pilot error. In addition to a one off engine failure. ADF also did not carry out upgrades that were recommended by the maker.

So, because the ADF failed to manage their use and maintenance we scrapped many millions worth of helicopters.

WTF is going on in the ADF?

P.S. a number of other countries are happy operating taipans. NZ included.

What's going on ...... promotion by gender instead of ability and even the ones they do promote as dumb as dog s*** pretty much covers it .
We don't even have drone protection even though there's an Australian company who makes a very capable system who would be a soldier in today's ADF .

Send taipans to Ukraine? Who's going to fly and maintain them? Just another target on the back of who is maintaining them.

IMO the ADF simply buried the proof that they were incompetent.

At least a dozen other countries are happy to operate them.

OK OB, what are all those numbers you quote?
There are 16 entities with a number 259 alongside them. It is actually a reference number for a Wikipedia entry 'NH Industries NH90' found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHIndustries_NH90
The numbers in service, as shown in "World Airforces 2024" https://www.flightglobal.com/download?ac=98881 are inserted in RED in your post. Seems that some of those countries have quite a few - is there a clamour to dispose of them? Some (many) of the service failures have been attributed to engine failures about which several maintenance recommendations had been made, and in some cases not followed, which resulted in machine failure/s. Perhaps, if recommended maintenance had been performed there might not have been a need to "ditch" them?

It's just a copy, past from Wikipedia. List current countries using the Taipans. The 259 is just a reference number.

"Greens Senator David Shoebridge said there had been no accountability for the failings inside defence."

That bloke is a proper commie and in my eyes on the same level as child predators. The lowest of the low. However this statement from him is correct.

However that is government for you. All departments. Never any accountability.

Correct, there has been no accountability.
Infact it's been an attempt to cover up the incompetence.

And if you think about the ADF in general, seems to me every 6 months or so you hear of more and more fukups and literally billions being wasted.

And suicides galore.

Agree, that's what worries me.

Seems to me, there is an underlying hidden root cause. And it's been systematic for many years.

Hey, guys don't forget that the gAyBC have just been busted again trying to hang our defence personnel, has anyone seen the Heston Russell criminal act they perpetrated on him adding shots to a video so as to deliberately incriminate him in a made-up war crime?

This scum organisation has been trying to belittle our hero's for years, let alone lying about everything else incessantly to destabilise Australia including climate change and the fake renewables lie.

We don't want to pick and choose what we want to believe from those stabbing us all in the back as well now do we?
I was working at HMAS Albatross when the MRH-90's were being assembled and commissioned, and the problems were only just starting then. Just be careful what you believe.

SMH. I believe we are getting blackhawks to replace them . Didn’t we have blackhawks back in the 80’s?

There was an article stating Australia is too focussed on big drones and ignoring the reality on the worlds most current battlefield Ukraine. Says we should be focussed on many smaller drones. Makes sense. We are seeing $1000 drones taking out million dollar plus tanks.

Oldbloke: "The ADF is an embarrassing."

Is the ADF more embarrassing than the RNZ Navy which recently lost a ship? The ship even had a Pommy captain, but she was clearly not of the calibre of James Cook.
