Up to 10 years ahead of the competition would explain the cost.

I wouldn't mind being a fly on the wall when they're talking strategies.
Are fighter jets becoming irrelevant perhaps?

Don't really know. My understanding is that the F16s have been effective in Ukraine. I guess you need a diversity of weapons/equipment

Yeah, but it's made in china.

China would like the world to think they're battle ready however they haven't engaged in war since Vietnam.
The North Korean troops in Ukraine are providing how people preform when they aren't hardened by experience.

I did not listen to it mate but is it about how the virgin plane alerted the government about the Chinese live firing? Albo said that the ADF new but it did not seem believable.

I wonder if Australia is shadowing this Chinese research / spy ship closely, I read today that they are now operating within our economic waters mapping our undersea cables.
I reckon they're getting as much done as possible before our next federal election in case they loose the opportunity if our pushover PM AlberEasy gets voted out.... they've sure been busy in our southern waters.

It's not too late to invite them into port, we could chuck another shrimp on the barbie for em

it's a very worrying state of affairs . will a chinese crewed vessel drag it's anchor across our undersea cables like russian ones have allegedly in the baltic sea . i think sweden currently has a ship detained over such actions . chinese bulk carrier yi peng 3
i did a google on the australian navy and we have 3 aging destroyers and 7 frigates . patrol boats and collins subs probably aren't worth mentioning . just crewing and maintaining what we've got is a joke . some time ago we had 2 subs operational, due to the rest being unseaworthy . a modest chinese task force of their latest ships would wipe out our navy in no time . and their building new ships at a astonishing rate , including aircraft carriers, and in a few more years china will have a bigger navy than the US . we need heavy investment in cutting edge weaponry across the board for the ADF as a whole , manpower wise we can't match china and technology is the only means of balancing this

the only new ships are 3 british designed "hunter" class frigates set up for anti sub roles being ordered , with a plan for 6 in total . to defend a country the size of ours it's a big ask

Been watching the ADF debacle for close to 30 years. Just one fuk up after another and tight arse politicians failing to provide a decent budget.
The ones who run procurement need hanging.

Mate, if China attacks we are fukd
Yanks will walk away fron ANZUS because of the cost.

If it wasn't for Marles and the cover up we would have an additional 40 odd helicopters.

Load up a heap of ammo, you might live an extra hour and kill a few if your lucky.

I think you've mistakenly used a photo of the Greens up top.

Anyhow, with the USA turning its back on Ukraine, can we trust they'll be there for us ? Or would Trumps remind our government of all the unpleasant things they've said about him over the past handful of years and leave us high and dry.
I think the current world affairs are playing well for China.

IMO China will invade Taiwan while Trump is in office.

I don't think US will care about Pine Gap. They will just destroy it and build another elsewhere.
