Do you remember when flyspray used to actually kill flies ?

There's plenty of crap that doesn't work well.
You've got to buy the good stuff.
You can't shop for flyspray by looking at the price tags, you'll end up getting what you pay for.

Next time your shopping stop and check the type and amount of active ingredients, there's a big difference.
The expensive stuff actually works, the cheapest stuff makes them hallucinate for a while before they fly off to bother you again.

There's a brand of flyspray in my local woolies in the D'Downs, this stuff.
From memory it actually costs less than $4 a can, and it kills better that ANY of the $10 cans.
Which is just as well because I can't stand flies when I'm eating brekky out the back.
Not all fly sprays are duds. Edit: Yes there's hope!

I prefer to use more industrial strength chemicals like fipronil, with a very small amount you could probably kill every creepy crawly and flying insect for miles.

Last year I did a number on every European wasp nest within Cooee of my place without locating a single nest, literally just a few drops on some shredded chicken, I lured them in for a few hours then added the fipronil,
Haven't seen a single European wasp since, neither has the neighbours

Same as both rat poison and rat traps. I used a couple KG of different poisons to try and stop a couple of marauding rats attacking my mothers tomatoes each night. I even bought 'double strength ratsac' and it got all eaten! Went on for over a week. Spent $50 of poison to try save a few bucks of tomatoes. Finally caught one in a walk in trap. And the regular traps were just as useless, the rats kept pulling out of them. I could let them snap on my hand without pain. Imagine trying that with the rat traps of the 80's.

You can't risk hurting the little beasties.
And,,,,,,,,,,, the Greens idea of NON LETHAL mouse traps was aimed at being able to trap the dear little things, and then go for a nice Sunday afternoon drive
out into the country (with a picnic lunch) and release them back into the wild.

Maybe thats how the last mouse plague actually started.

Friend (real techno geek and hunter) put me on to these, best idea in ages.
Get one (or 2) if these.
Shoots a pinch of salt like a small shotty for inside the house (or outside).
Pattern on some alfoil first, so you can aim.
Cockroaches: aim a but under, so the ricochet gets them in the unprotected belly.

I do what I did as a kid. Still have the old Mortein pump sprayer (and it works) and a mate still works as a pestie and spots me some pyrethrum mist to put in it. Stinks a bit but works great. As a back up, the long rubber band cut in two and with a knot tied at one end can still knock the crap out of any landed fly....and still fun too.

I had so much fun with my old yellow Bug-A-Salt, that the Mrs got me the new, improved double-power camo one... normally I think camo is extremely gay but this jobby has the underslung laser, and the flies have absolutely no chance now. Splatters 'em.

She reckons fly sprays etc cause Parkinsons disease so they're banned when she's around. Hence the Big-O.

I've done a fair number of videos on my Youtube channel on pest control and tools/sprays that work. And I have more to come here soon.

For spray on the body sprays, I like a natural spray using eucalyptus and lemongrass.

For fly traps, I get good results with a company called Rescue. They make these plastic bag traps you hang outside and they have a bait attractant that activates when you add water. The Big Bags will hold up to 40000 flies. They also make a stick on trap for indoor use. And they make yellow jacket wasp traps that work like the fly traps with water.

For general insect destruction on the spot, the Bug A Salt is hard to beat. Unfortunately in Australia you cannot get the Shredder, which is gas powered and more powerful than the shotgun ones.

For wasps and carpenter bees, I use a variety of sprays and have good luck with a company called Wondercide.

For mice, I use bait and also the Goodnature CO2 powered auto reset traps.
