So I sit and write and ponder, while the house is deaf and dumb,
Seeing visions "over yonder" of the war I know must come.
In the corner — not a vision — but a sign for coming days
Stand a box of ammunition and a rifle in green baize.
And in this, the living present, let the word go through the land,

No — no ranting song is needed, and no meeting, flag or fuss —

Without feathers, drum or riot on the day that is to be,

wow , a great piece from one of our "bush poets" . in primary school , back when we recited the national anthem at morning assembly and there was a picture of the queen on every classroom wall , i was taught about lawson, patterson and steele rudd . long since forgotten now i reckon . kids are taught how the britsh empire invaded and that's about it thanks for posting , especially on australia day

It's true.
I used to think Alex was a bit over the top saying Australia's now rooted, but he's right.
My wife and I had a discussion yesterday about how the place, how it's run and the restrictions on everyone, not just guns by the way, have deteriorated to the point where everything is in place for complete totalitarianism.
The last stroke of the pen is only an event or tragedy away.
