Selling guns

Post by alexjones » 11 Apr 2026, 8:34 pm

I have been selling some guns on the internet.

They all paid me straight away in my bank account but only one bloke wanted to pay me when the gun was at the dealer and he rung them to confirm.

I actually think that is reasonable of him and thats how I would do it. My other concern is the other people sending me thousands of dollars straight away before the gun was at the dealer.

These people seem to gullible to me. I am not a scammer but some people are.

How do you guys do it?

I will contact the transfering dealer for information on the seller, if they cannot verify them then I will wait until the firearm is with the dealer then do the financial transfer.

i've sold guns and other gear quite a bit , firearms people are 99% good honest people, especially those in the regions . scumbags with any sort of form fail the "fit and proper person" test in the first place. BUT , usedguns advise having the seller take the gun to a dealer and get the buyer to ring and confirm everything is kosher . i've been through this a few times too . probably the smartest way to do business . i have had the occasional firearm be not quite up to the described condition , but in these cases i was looking for a rifle for a custom project anyway , so going to be rebarreled and blueing redone anyway.
these days i prefer to handle the firearm in person to check stock fit and action function. i'm a lot more selective after being through some pitfalls due to personal preferences on fit and function . JMHO
