conservatives are back ?

Post by bigrich » 14 Apr 2026, 4:55 pm

well fellas a lot of strong talk from the new liberal leader , complete polar opposite from susan ley . lefty's will be frothing at the mouth over this new policy :D
never thought i'd see policies like this from the coalition . i read one nation got hacked the other day by parliament house IT department , draft polices were made available to anyone for a few hours , AFP to investigate . tell you what , this new coalition policy sounds a lot like one nation's with a bit of the orange man thrown in . just sayin' :P
have a watch and see what you think

Yeah, but talk is cheap.
We'll see.
As long as politicians have mouths, everything coming out when they talk is either lies, sh*t or semen.

Yeah talk is cheap.

Liberals in Tasmania a few years ago said if they win they will introduce cat C for sports shooters. They won and they went back on their word.

I do feel like liberals are so far gone and they know it that they will try to reinvent themselves.

Lefties don't vote for them and conservatives are not voting for them. So who is their voter base?

that's what is behind this strong talk , their losing all their voter base to one nation . i read a article a few weeks ago about the coalition facing a "extinction event " next election . i find it funny how some have mocked ON , yet they've changed the political landscape in the last few months just through opinion polls . and the coalition seem to be stealing ON policies ;)
for the sake of this country the conservatives need to pull together to rid us of toxic labour and rebuild the country . to his credit , QLD premier david crussifulli didn't screw Queenslander's with gun laws and buybacks , and is pushing for the oil fields at taroom to be expanded . good on him

Yeah mate I agree. Crissifulli is ok. I hate what he is doing with free speech laws but in regards to guns he is ok.

He grew up on a cane farm so he is familar with life on the land.

And yes if the liberals don't change they are done. The damage for them is probably already 95% done so they have a low chance of survival.

AND now, am I hearing that they will now ban the lever/button release and straight-pull stuff now too?

After this brief first exposure to him, if nothing else, Sean Bell comes across as sane and with an understanding what work actually means and is.
If ON can find more like him then the uniparty has a real problem.
I would choose practicality and common sense over conservatism, or any other ism, given the opportunity.

Absolutely agree mate. I’m a tradie, so you learn common sense or lose fingers and risk injury. Intellectuals , university education, have no common sense cause mostly they are living in a world of ideology. As you say, if ON can get more straight talking people like him, they’ll shred the uni-party numpties in debate and question time if they push for the facts and reality

Unfortunately, it is my belief that, irrespective of how much sense is spoken by the aspiring politicians, the biggest hurdle is the preferential voting system which seems to be designed in such a way that a huge number of voters simply can't be bothered ranking the aspirants in order of preference.
What happens? They either vote 'above the line', or they spoil their vote by failing to rank ALL of the candidates.
My preference is to vote for ONE PERSON ONLY. That is my one and only preference.

Too many lies and too much betrayal over many years, the Libs/Nats deserve what is coming.

that's why the public is moving to support ON . same common sensed principles that haven't deviated in reaction to public opinion polls in over 30 years . i heard in a new survey that women are reportedly shifting to ON in large numbers , outnumbering men in some age brackets . australians are just sick of the lies of the duopoly . labor claims immigration is down , complete lie . the reserve bank publicly stated immigration levels is making housing expensive , labor says no it's not . malcom turnbull was the slimiest PM we've ever had , scomo was the most tone deaf . last great PM we've had who had the true common mans touch was bob hawke . we need someone like this again, someone who's worked a blue collar job, who's struggled to make ends meet . all we've had for the last 20 years are university educated career politicians with no sense of the reality of the average australian, and no common sense in doing what's best for this country.
