Blacksoil is bloody filthy stuff even when it's dry, I think even tracked vehicles struggle with that stuff

the rheinmetal plant in ipswich qld is already producing their "boxer" LAV replacement . i reckon the germans know a thing or two about armoured vehicles . their KF41 lynx looks the goods . the old leopards we had were world class in their day, and upgradeable as new tech was developed . interesting times . i love it

Thought I would resurrect this post. I see in the news the US is shipping mobile heavy/long range artillery to ukrain as long distance artillery duels are becoming a key element in this conflict. The UK and Germany are shipping armoured air defence as well. Presumably as defence against air strikes on the artillery. Whether or not we see a similar type of battle on Australian soil remains to be seen

I think all modern wars will be fought from a distance and from the air in the first place whether it is shells or cruise missiles. The old ploy of soften them up with artillery before making an advance still seems a reasonable strategy. In the end it will come down to boots on ground but they could be even after a surrender.
