Each state has something like a small claims court where you can go if you have been defrauded or otherwise been financially dudded without the need for legal representation. It will have a $ limit like $5000 or $10000.
You entered into a verbal contract, you paid your money, you have documentary proof of the agreement and now they have reneged.
It would also be interesting to know just how fair dinkum the $250 letters are. Did you ever follow any of them up?

WA has always had the most restrictive and in many ways retarded firearm laws.
I wonder what is the greatest fear of the ruling classes over there.

Exactly what I was thinking when reading the post, I wouldn't bother owning firearms if I had to live in that retarded state, I just couldn't be bothered with all the bulls**t.

As you have an email from them initially stating that extra copies were available to you I would get their refusal in writing too. Then I'd confront them with the two emails and either get cash or letters back.
Was it the same person you dealt with both times? If not it may just be a misunderstanding.

That is crook, it is a shame you don't have the same system as QLD where being a member of the Shooters Union, provides the genuine reason proof.

I might go into the property permission business. Does it count in WA if the letter is from Taswegia???
I have some mates and we could clean up on this caper!

Seriously, though: that is fooked!

The manager of the gunshop I dealt with at the time was fired later. However I have shown them the evidence of what I was agreeing to and from what I can tell they are just point blank refusing (so far I've only spoken with a new guy who has been there a total of 3 days, but apparently he is checking with the boss before telling me this stuff)

Ok that is starting to make sense. Hopefully they will come to the realization that they have to honor prior contracts before they have to fight it in small claims.

Problem is that for at least the next 6 months I have to shoot at their range in order to keep my pistolas. Not impossible, but certainly pretty awkward...

Surely wa allows you to change ranges. Anyway if I was in your situation, I would have gone for handgun not pistolas license, unless you rather pistol license, maybe they think you are a mexican anges giving you a hard time.

Btw, if you don't mind this is my word of the week. Pistolas....hehe

Just proof you send to the police that shows you have authorisation to shoot on a big property

The land is just owned by a friend of the gunshop owner, assumedly. In theory he might let me, but it seems to me there's an implicit agreement when the gunshop sells you the letter that you don't actually rock up and go shooting there

:wtf:    :wtf: WA=Weird Arse...

I'd certainly feel like I've been raped by them both, think I'll keep well clear of WA if that's the way shooters are treated... . :wtf:

You really need to hurry up and move away from that crazy place and help us chip that part of the land mass off, before that BS spreads...

Farken  stuff...

“Accidental Discharges” DO NOT OCCUR !!

An "Unintended Discharge" is nothing more than the lack of appropriate safety procedures or the failure to follow them..!

Ponkychonk

It's probably, easier than it is to own 8+ there mate... A mate from the NT moved there a while back and sold most of his before he went there :( his place made gun shops look like complete amateurs in comparison... Farked if I know why he went there to be honest.. :?

You should look into the process of moving with what you have, you may find it's easier than what you are dealing with where you are mate.. I doubt it could be any worse..

Sooooo, you pay $250 knowing you get nothing in return. Isn't that what you got? What are you complaining about? :sarcasm:

No wonder you're a sore arse.

And this is legal and the WA police know this is happening?

Yep retarded is the best description for it.

After reading this thread, I'm kicking myself!

I'd be about $10K up if I'd been charging $250 for every 'permission to shoot' letter I've written the past 15 years!
Maybe I could start charging our (professional) roo-shooters on a per-grasshopper basis!
[....NOT!!]

Amazing that for the $250 you get effectively nothing for the dollars. You'd think they'd at least let you shoot if they're taking your money!

Amazing.

this is it
you will never resolve this amicably unless the owner see's sence :unknown:
talk to the owner first and let him know what you plan to do, do it calmly
you can hit them up for stopping you shooting at there range for no reason as well
as long as you are not hostile toward them, remember calmly :drinks:

On an optimistic note they have probably done this to multiple people. Once it starts hitting the fan they will hopefully honor their original deals with all.
Can you check if anyone has started action against them?
