Our little bloke was killed on the road last night :-(

Post by bladeracer » 13 Jul 2018, 5:07 pm

He went with Rose to feed the cows and I can only guess that he flushed a fox and dashed across the road. The only other reason we've ever seen him go onto the road is if there's an injured animal, but there was no sign of that.

Words can't say how much that sucks, mate.

I have my girl, can't imagine what it would be like to have this happen.

Much appreciated Guys.
It was a tough night, not helped by a power cut, and my rolling an ankle while looking for him in the dark. I'm getting around today in the motor-barrow.

The only thing worse would be if we lost Rose, as I have no idea how I would cope with how devastated Joey would've been - Rose was his whole world. We'll bury him just outside my office where he spent his days waiting for her to come home.

No need to be sorry. I was just conflicted, happy that no child was harmed, sad that what seems like a top Dog had died.

Sorry to hear that BR I know how it feels. My last dog for 17 years buried her and planted an oak on top. It was about 4 years before I got another dog, which is not the same in faithfulness and honesty as my last. That tree struggled to grow getting knocked by the cows then had another setback rubbing on a star post but its going strong know and the family knows the tree after her name even my 5 year old who never knew the dog and has only seen pictures.
They never really leave you, you will always have those special memory moments when something occurred or you did together.
Like you I hope I never have to face losing a child and hope my wife and I stay together for the long haul.

That’s awful BR. Condolences to you for the loss. There’s a tremendous amount to said about a great dog; they genuinely become family.

I lost my old girl recently (she was 12 and in amazing shape for her age) after she chased down a roo, roo got cornered and fought its way out. A terrible way for her to go. It’s hard and they can never be replaced :(

My condolences mate
