1100yds with a 30-30?

Does it come with a helicopter to carry the round the additional 1000yds?

Have any of you ever tried it?
I've personally hit the 1123 yard buffalo target at NRA Whittington centre with a .30-30 lever gun, off-hand, along with plenty of other folks. It is relatively easy once you get dialed in on where to aim. You'd be surprised at just how little hold over is required.
But what am I saying, .30-30's are only good to 100yards. :sarcasm:
BTW, Winchester had ladder sights on some Model 66's that were graduated to 900 yards, that's for the .44 rimfire.

Still, that ad is a bit of a doosey. I doubt he ever shot it that far.

30 odd meters of hold over. I hope there was a cloud to aim at.

Yeah.....Nah. That ad is a total w*nk.

Just sayin' what's possible. Like I said, just because you think it can't be done, don't mean it's not right.

A .308 Winchester drops nearly 500 inches @ 1000 yards so the .30-30 is only about twice as much. That's why you have adjustable sights folks. :o
For the record, the lever gun I shot was fitted with a Williams peep sight raised to its highest point and about a 10 foot hold over was all that was required to hit the buffalo target that I mentioned. Was it hit with the first shot?, No. A few shots were required to "walk" it in, but like I said, once hit, it was relatively easy to duplicate the shot. Plenty of folks have done the same.

Having said that, would I be trying to use the rifle that "old mate" is advertising for 1000 yard plus hunting shots?.......I don't think so!

A lot of old guns had "ladder" sights on them that were graduated for extra long distances. My No. 4 SMLE .303 Singer sight is graduated to 1300 yards, and that round only runs about 100fps faster than a .30-30. There are plenty of black-powder rifles that have sights sights graduated past 1000 yards. The 1874 "Billy Dixon" shot of over 1500 yards, ( look it up ), is achievable with just the standard barrel sights of a Sharps buffalo rifle of that time.

Here's a 1000 yard target shot with my .45 cal Gibbs muzzle-loader using a vernier tang sight which is only set at 155 MOA. The black is 48 inches in diameter. :drinks:

And that's the point ... An ethical kill with a 94 30/30 at a1000 yards is just dreaming.
And for most the experience needed to make any shot at that range (regardless of cal/chambering ) is probably beyond what most would have the opportunity to gain.
As ya would know better than me everything comes into play at those ranges. :drinks:

I don,t know who wrote the add but you realy should admire the skill and time involved I would like to break it don if i may
Sight 177.99 usd free postage from Brownells not 300 from the gunsmith he used
Sling 73 usd not sure on postage Andy,s web sight did not say not 175
Swivels set Uncle mikes 30 eBay not 80
Gun bag may be depending on type
reloading kit did not say what type but a 30/30 lee loader kit is 50 not 300
I would say someone bought a Winchester for 1900 and a gunsmith made some more $$$
as someone,s said add is a total WANK
but worth a laugh

If you think a .30-30 cant shoot that far just watch these fellas and off cross sticks too - not a bench!....

900yds is 300yds short of 1100yds even so I wouldn't like to be sitting on the hill side at 1100yds while some one took pot shots at
me with a 30/30   :D
The 336 isn't it a bolt action or am I thinking of a different rifle ? :unknown:
