We wouldnt have cracked anywhere near an inch (25mm) so far, and I doubt we'll get much beyond an inch at the very most.
[Unless it all changes around some more, which is possible.]
Light misty showers most of this afternoon, but you could still drive to town if need be at this stage..

That thing North of Mount Isa looks like it's sending stuff our way, but not really sure it will get here.

Besides; I expect we will start losing livestock if we get much more than 75mm.. Too big a shock for them, until they get some grass to eat.
One good thing; it will likely nail a heap more roos.
The roos havent been coping well with the last few rain events, and they were a lot shorter than this one.

I'm not too unhappy with where we are at as far as rain right now; we couldnt deal with the deluge around Townsville. It would likely be more destructive than another 6 months of drought, for us right now..
Softly Softly.

Niece works as a governess on a property up on the Daimantina near Kynuna; the family were supposed to be heading back this weekend. Yesterday, she was advised it would be Tuesday, as the family were stuck in Charters Towers. NOW; it's looking like this week might be a write-off, and even next week might be in question...
I dont think anyone is overly upset, but I'm glad we arent getting as much rain as they are up there. Not until the sheep are bit stronger...

Yeah mate the system is more or less stationary over Townsville. I have looked at the modelling and as it eventually moves away over the sea it starts to spin up. Cyclone??? Let’s bloody well hope not. I shudder to think what that would do to the place considering everything already saturated. Wouldn’t be a tree left standing.

You all good down there JT?..Cyclone is very likely if the low moves over water. ..With the ground being so wet even a cat 1 will do a lot of damage.
Townsville is definitely taking one for the team this year we've actually got blue sky this morning :D although we haven't seen a qtr of the rain you guys have. :drinks:

You know it's sad, we have big bushfires in tassie, a decent bushfire in gippsland and big qty in qld.. if you check melbourne newspapers no mention of them except the gippsland one.

Dunno if the tv news is any different, as I don't really get to watch it

Thanks mate I made it back this arvo. I think we might be in a little bit of strife when they open the gates fully. They don’t have a choice though, got to get some water out of dam.

I wonder if Tiddles the cat made it home from eating all the native wildlife that night...

I could be wrong, but that swirl coming over from the Gulf looks like it's arrowing straight towards Townsville!

Kinda looks like you gents might be in for yet more rain in the next day or so...
Hope NOT for your sakes...

Interesting to see how many people further South are praying to god that rain system moves down their way, but the models suggest not.

Daddybang,

When I heard about the fake evacuation text messages going around up there, I wondered if they werent an enterprising burgular; clearing the decks to mka eife easier for him.
[Could be a bit of a worry if he finds the newly installed oversized toofy gekko in the driveway!]

Could wrong, but the snout on that geko looks a lot like a Johnstone's crocodile (freshwater).

Yeah I thought the same way but I think it's more reflection that's Makin it look like a skinny freshie snout??
Also that would almost be a record breaking size for a freshie BUT its from face slap so I can't vouch for the authenticity!! :drinks:

Just had another look at that photo and I see a pair of legs in the top right corner that put some prospective to the size of the geko, I'd say middleing size for a Johnstone's (at least for the ones we get around here, CQ), or very small for a saltie.

I dunno it looks like it's around half a meter across the belly (on this tiny phone screen I can't see the legs to give it the same perspective  ) which is gonna make it close to three meters which is pretty big for a freshie no matter where ya are (they don't often get over the 9-10 ft mark). The other thing if its genuine is where is a freshie coming from in Townsville to end up in the streets of mundinburra? The ross etc is all salt up that end. :unknown:

A three metre one was reportedly sighted by emergency services on Bowen Rd near Rosslea on Sunday night. The one in that photo was described as small, but that description was by the father of the photographer who "had once lived in the Northern Territory and wasn’t bothered by the crocodile.", so what he considers big might be different to you or I. Also a photo of a freshie climbing a tree to get out of the floodwaters. :o

He's not even big enough to nail the cat!

Another example of how badly taken photos can screw up your perspective...

[I'd be inclined to adopt the toofy-gekko, to keep the cat firmly in it's place...]

This phone is f@#ked(its only eight years old  ) even with the red outline and zooming in all I can see is what looks like a white? blob and when I zoom in the croc looks like its a meter and a half wide :o
I've seen freshies climb up small half submerged trees to sunbake like turtles before. I reckon it's gonna be a rough breeding season next year for the freshies in that area as they need sandy banks to lay their eggs.(again like turtles) :drinks:
