Favourite apps ?

Post by TassieTiger » 27 May 2019, 6:37 pm

It’s amazing to me - that I constantly overlook the myriad of helpful apps that are out there for free and then someone shows me an app and I think...bloody hell, I’ll have that !!!

So - post up your favourite apps.

Someone just showed me windy.com app...it’s like BOM on steroids and is fantastic for planning fishing and hunting trips.
https://www.windy.com/?-37.767,144.917,5

And then there’s this app that shows a huge amount of reticles / magnifications / factory bullet speeds and drops and is customisable for hand loads - showing wind speed impacts to bullets etc.
Search up - SBC ballistics to find the app.

Then one for fun / tracking your flights. This app shows you the speed, location, flight no, etc if every registered air craft in the world at any one time - there are squillions...
Search up Flightradar24 - it’s brilliant.

All these are free - post up what else you guys look at or consider cool.

It does use a lot of data so watch out I turn it on only when going somewhere new

Forgot one I use a lot-
There is a tape measure app for iPhone that uses the camera and a virtual type environment so you can use it to measure the Cm distance of any object - you can also do cubes BUT - the best thing is the 3D level that is brilliant for getting scopes dead level in the rings.

Search tape measure AR

Ummm...you need to take a Chance and embrace some offerings...
Podcasts are brilliant as well - hunting, shooting, what ever you are into - there are podcasts to listen to - like an audio book in your favourite subject. I love meat eater hunting and Joe Rogan experience.
Some apps really are kick arse.
Windy.com app is just brilliant weather forecasting tool...

I can use a laptop for most of that, including checking weather reports. Not knocking what the apps can do, just dont need them in my pocket.

Waze, downloaded it a few months ago and use it everyday I drive.

Real time monitoring of hwp locations, RBT n RDT, also let's you know fixed speed cameras and shows you your GPS speed along with the actual speed limit.

If a cop is cruising a kill zone someone will post a sighting and you know to knock off a few clicks

My wife has an app on her mobile that will tell you the names of stars and planets. You "aim" the phone at a celestial body and the name appears on the screen :)

I use measure map pro. For nav in the dark and to drop pins and quickly ascertain how far it is from a to b ......it’s sort of based on google earth but with additional linea and area measuring capabilities.
