This is weird ,,,,,, and I can't explain it.

Maybe some of you techno wizards can ?

A series of pics taken by the trail camera over another water source (almost pot hole size)

In the pics, (and I have approx 20 of these) there are what appears to be two "things" that in some pics seem to be in or over the water, and in other
pics seem to be almost entirely on dry ground.

In others when flicking from one pic to the other they distinctly change height.

And then there is a sequence of three consecutive pics with only seconds between each,,,,, then when a cow steps in alongside, they disappear and
then reappear.

Beats the F outta me.

Pic # 34 taken at 5:58:11
and
Pic # 35 taken at 5:58:43 (only 32 secs between)

Pic # 26 definitely not reflection on water.

Pic # 47 taken at 6:05:10 (is there)
Pic # 48 taken at 6:05:52 (is not there) only 42 seconds elapsed
Pic # 49 taken at 6:07:09 (is there) only 17 secsonds elapsed

?????????????????????????????????????????????? :wtf: :unknown:

(Bugger,,,,,,,, I uploaded the pics in reverse order I think)

Its gotta be a reflection of some sort from the water - the cow is blocking the particular rays on the bottom right that are reflecting into the camera lens

Nah mate your dreaming have a look at a good reference point like just above the moon symbol there is a flat rock on the border of the pic. It is in the same place in each picture. The lengthing light in the pictures as the sun goes down does play some tricks regarding shadows in other parts though.

Going by the time stamps on the photos and the glare around the suns reflection in the water, there's the possibility that the IR filter has not yet dropped back over the CCD, and the camera has captured the IR images of a close flying insect. The effect of the "thing" being over water/land would be from the relative verticle position of the insect at the time the photo was taken.

Its probably glare or reflected light causing camera to play up. I have a Sony camera that puts s pink line across an image when sunlight is to bright. At a guess I'd say a similar thing is happening there.

I'm hoping wishing praying and thinking happy thoughts about your dams getting filled soon.

It's the sun reflection from the dam water hitting the lens. The movement of the 'things' will be from ripples on the water slightly altering the suns reflection mark.
Move your camera into a position where the sun won't reflect back onto it.
It'll shoot the fleas off a dog's back at five hundred yards, Tannen, and it's pointed straight at your head!

If they continuously and slowly grew or diminished in height I would wholeheartedly agree with the sun going down or up.
But these go up, and then back down, and up again in the space of seconds.
And if its due to the movement of the sun that would mean the sun would have to go up and down,,,, also in the space of seconds.

Hey DJ are those tyre tracks on the upper level of the dam wall in number 1 and 2 pics maybe someone drove around the dam with 4 wheeler with lights on early morning and later went back this can cause a false image at times especially mixed with some sunlight of a different angle

Its the lens of the camera playing tricks And the light reflected from the dam and the ripples.

The only pictures the two objects are not visible is the one where the cow is blocking the sun reflection from the dam.

Could be similar to a prism effect where the rays of light after being reflected from the dam hit the camera lens.

Its not Aliens... i repeat you do not need to ring Fox Mulder... saying that a young Dana would be quite ok to come...i repeat its not Aliens :sarcasm:

Ok...its got the better of me...

I have to ask...what are these "things" that are floating in & above the water that i cant seem to see...?

Surely were not talking about the chromatic aberration flare in the lens (red & green flare spots) at the waters edge in 3 of the pics...???...or are we... :unknown:

If thats the "things" in question...i think think this quote sums it all up--quite literally...

Yeah Mate, they are my tracks where I drove through to the opposite side to gain wind advantage, and no I didn't have lights on.
Just outside the dam walls it is a minefield of stumps at diff height, and far easier to simply follow the track into the dam.
