Charges and Fees ??

Post by Die Judicii » 07 Jan 2020, 4:57 pm

What sort of charges and fees ( $$ ) seem to be current for a dealer to post a firearm interstate. (not WA) ?????

Mostly I have paid around the $60 mark. The transfers are often about $15 for the PTA. It does depend on the shop, what shop or person you may be buying it from, what sort of relationship you have with your shop.

l've seen them asking up to $200
l got the seller to find another dealer, $50 is a good price that l am happy to pay
if you are sending though always get it insured,
the cost to send the last one l sent after getting a dealer to put the firearm on his books was under $25 plus insurance

I've paid anywhere from $45 (rural SA) to $120 (Brisbane) to Sydney.

If you ask me most shops use it as a gouge, since you've more than likely gone through the whole negotiation with the seller and are likely to just have to eat whatever number they throw at you.

I bought a rifle from a fella in NSW 6 months ago. All up, with fees, charges and postage etc, it cost me near $200.

Well that's an interesting array.

I sent one today.. Just a bare rifle, (a short one),,,,,,,, and they hit me with $90 for postage.

I think they just shat in their own nest.. I will NOT be going back.

Yeah well,,,, I just found my receipt today when cleaning the car.
The breakdown of the charges is as follows.

Firearm transfer fee: $11.00
P + H: $55.00
Firearm Storage fee: $24.00

I know it's technically correct seeing as it is entered into their books,,,,,, but it was left on the counter for 15 minutes while they
boxed it and was put in the mail.
And that earned them $24.00

SHEES,,,,,,,

The 11 probably goes to the firearms registery, and 24 is the labor to fill out forms and fax to registery, EFTPOS fees etc.

In vic they charge anywhere from 50 to $100, the cost to do the paperwork for interstate, and usually 25 for local transfers. Plus PTA
