Road Kill ??? No.

While riding the boundary on the quad this morning I came across a roo laying in grass under a tree.
It had a snapped hind leg.

Being just inside the fence line, I feel confident in saying that it had been clipped by a car or truck.
Which makes one wonder,,, with the amount of "dead" road kill you see every day of the year on the roadside,,,,,
How many are only injured laying in the grass ??

This is the second incident I've found within only a few months.
The other one had a fractured spine,,, was laying on the edge of the gravel verge,, and could only lift its head up.

These incidents could actually give some useful purpose in life to greenies and vegans.
A full time job patrolling the roadsides of Australia.

I don't know how it works in Qld but down here roadside animals are often checked by wildlife carers, whose phone details appear on roadside signs, for signs of life, need for euthanasia and pouch joeys. One of my good mates does this, and he even fenced off one of his paddocks for rehabilitating injured wildlife and orphaned joeys. His wife is authorized to carry a dart gun as well. Lots of folk do it here in Vic, but my mate has never seen a Greenie doing it! A world of difference between conservationist / wildlife carers and Greenies, Cheers

Some of our local wild life parks - ask shooters for food for the devils...it’s illegal for them to utilise road kill.
Dedpite our proximity on the planet, we are enduring a drought and it’s driving wild life to road side drainages. A recent news article reported over 40 vehicle strikes to wildlife, on a very short bush road section, inside 24 hours...I don’t believe we have ppl to assist outside of RSPCA. Sad...

Besides,,,, that's not exactly what I said.

What I didn't say though was,, I damm near sank to the axles on my way out last night.
I made the mistake of travelling in the same wheel tracks, which is near fatal in Peat country,, and although not Peat up here, there
is a "soak" in that particular spot.
Last night was the first time I've been out there when things are wet.
