if anyone has the appropriate licence they should buy this automatic rifle as it is a bargain. Only way to get automatic(operational) in Queensland(legally) is to be a theatrical ordnance supplier which I am not.

Had one of these, sold my SLR to buy it and didn't like it as much. Don't like the ribbed chamber, and what it does to brass, even though you can still reload it, never happy with the "feel" of it. Bought another SLR and a Mini-14, much happier. Then came John.

HK 91/93's were never very accurate rifles, at least when compared to what you could use the cartridge for on the land.
I did virtually prostitute myself to get one, but it was very disappointing.
As were SLR rifles, to my required use anyway, although I had a soft spot for them.
Now the M14 rifles brought in and converted to semi-only, were capable of MOA accuracy even with the amateurish reloading knowledge I had at the time and were incredibly useful rifles on the farm.
Nowadays, with the incredible evolution of the SR25/AR10 style rifles and 3lb single stage triggers by the boutique American makers, there are way better choices for the only justifiable reasons left to own and use a semi in Aus now. And that is quick, repeatable, very accurate shots.

I don’t understand the obsession with big levers. You will want to swap it out. You want a snug lever. That’s why you wrap it in leather or parracord or whatever. When was the last time you wore a set of heavy mittens shooting pigs.
I don’t understand a 16 inch barrel 30 30 either. Oh wait, yes I do . It’s threaded for a suppressor. Well then, you won’t be wanting the 16 inch barrel version.

I was more than a little excited to discover these on eBay.
These are a no drill buttstock option for rifles if you’ve never seen one. They suit traditional looking lever rifles with crescent shaped buttstocks.
I own one such rifle and whilst I’ve fixed a swivel to the mag tube, I’ve never built up the courage to drill into the stock. It’s a beautiful rifle. One slip and i would be inconsolable.

Lovingly crafted to by an undernourished child chained to a work bench in China. Nevertheless the quality is fine enough and can easily source a sling to match from the same suppliers.

I’m not recommending any particular eBay seller. Shop around. But an example here https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/205087383031?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20231107084023%26meid%3Db897ac283d1d4d359e881e1fd7a41c15%26pid%3D101875%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D205091497297%26itm%3D205087383031%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DSimVIDwebV3WithCPCExpansionEmbeddingSearchQuerySemanticBroadMatchSingularityRecallReplaceKnnV4WithVectorDbNsOptHotPlRecall&_trksid=p2332490.c101875.m1851&itmprp=cksum%3A205087383031b897ac283d1d4d359e881e1fd7a41c15%7Cenc%3AAQAKAAABcHKEKKNMUePryBh1zZl0qrjonWK6%252Bbjh8v6%252FxTRbw1Loxqx736BoO2V7ozv6W4xuOBJjwGhPLWk9lnRB2teM6PFgOrZGVcTwpTth7MW79p066SWQrB1VasW1Di58xl1RMBXsH%252BaNxpzil0t8bdqbPkgJlZgvtHVYNSkxo5xG%252Bq21M8y1yJRUE%252Be1r7FQ4%252FDIsmS80VsBGipt9t8cMuoRIJ1iBeuqvHnFEWiQiGyZrL1nuDbtOo6krwxcTFCN%252BPJj%252BpsOGxbt2VCAukKoDTsDquA6h9woQsap%252BTRYwspS7R0YC1nw37kfomK2KiFewStybN8MS3KfidcKPfsnJATpvwAJvpHjflKpz4OnxJ%252FIEAjNbDzP6b1pM3gO5yNThvscwW%252Bgk4FdcoZlS4Lk1MwD9TOfuyAkCrKGzX4l7M%252BeReN17Iv9k%252BtVVatI%252FkXh2jFgPPIVcOHzSJxbNRGQieM2EvVoFPZqa%252F72KfC2k4jj9MEV%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2332490&itmmeta=01JTGSDAK5R9AAP3D2K5WR777Z

Cheap eBay sled. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285929687880?_skw=rifle+rest&itmmeta=01JV094JP9GZZ0FM3C3RK26D2M&hash=item4292bccb48%3Ag%3AKBwAAOSwWLhnFc%7EH&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAAwFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1cmYNIArM5%2FgkXiOwBKiHFgntwztNOP1q1%2FBWP9pKCUwtLtjcZYBrthorCNEjiR9X2CoZOcqmckHFGM%2BGbQXKAfHmAnkWtTCEqKyEGxfjuZ1SHXLTk2yQLzZHYGSPEkow7sQTm6RkeluRpKLL6CfzsecEII2VT3g%2BSF11Hz6ejZVXVVgmnnIoqE1PVchh7FvzzhT3WpYA1VL8qCgsZy96U%2FdURbcEp0uqvm%2FJI1llDNEw%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABlBMULirkonYZQ&keyword=rifle+rest&sacat=0&relatedSearch=true

I got one. 80 bucks delivered. Better than I expected . Not the piece of crap I expected from chinaman. Could I knock one up with scrap for less, time and money. Nope not really.

It’s actually pretty good. Generous 14m stainless allthread. Welds are good because all Chinese can weld from birth. It’s thin gauge but I wouldn’t leave it out in the weather. Very minute adjustment for elevation. Enough elevation to satisfy anyone.

Except perhaps bladeracer, who’s intent is proving the earth is round with 22lr

Adjustable feet are more plasticy than rubbery but just get a rubber mat.

Banana for scale.

Get yourself a bargain. It won’t disappoint.

I bought that same shooting rest a few years ago, it was dirt cheap, and is not at all bad.

And I'll soon discover if it has enough elevation to shoot 400m with .38 Special as I need to get some trajectory data for a long-range Cowboy pistol-caliber cartridge shoot :-) The BC is even lower than .22LR, around .115 from what I've seen, but I'll measure the actual BC myself. My velocity is also significantly lower than .22LR, around 870fps so I do expect a nice rainbow. With the Henry .22LR I have almost 10m of holdover at 400m, with the Uberti .38 Special I'm expecting it'll be around 15m of holdover at 400m. I'll work out at 50m intervals measuring drop averages. Using open sights makes pretty large groups so I need lots of data points to measure drops. If I can get a tang-mount aperture sight before then that will definitely help. I don't know yet what size target we're expected to hit so I'll practice on whatever size I need to be able to drop the group onto it.

Is that rest any good mate? I mean, anywhere as stable as a bipod with a rear bag?

I only ask because a mate bought some strange rest for his door, not sure what it was, a racking rest?
They make them to sit on benches, and a different version for ute doors and quads etc.
I had a go and bloody heck, it was a wobbly thing, it had struts on it but no way we could drive without holding onto the rifle sitting in it, or there would've been a tragedy.

It’s stable. There’s no movement when everything is tightened up

Bipod with a bag isn’t ideal for my lever actions. Really why I bought this contraption. I still need a little bag on the front to work the action. As shown in second pic.

I can’t sight them in with a shooting stick. I’ve tried. I suck at it.

Only thing is the rear v shape rest, the rifle stock can twist left or right a bit. So I’m just going to cut some foam or rubber wedges to drop in.

I don’t really want the my lever rifles too bedded down because I generally shoot them off hand. So it’s just handy to have it, to check them after a long drive bumpy terrain. I can just sit it on the bonnet or tray and see where I’m at at 50 yards or so.

But basically that’s my intended use for it. I’m not shooting groups. I’ll just hit the paper, then move the crosshairs to the hole. Just do that a couple of times to fine tune it if needed. If it’s wandered after the trip out.
