How should I light my shed?

Post by Kelsey Cooter » 28 Aug 2020, 3:58 pm

I'm about to get power into my new shed, and I'm trying to learn about lighting so I'm wondering what the best way to light my shed bays would be?

My electrician recommended led high bay lights and I see they seem to well and truely be the way to go.

1 bay will eventually have a mezzanine floor for the entire bay, with reloading room/mancave built under. So in that bay I'm just going to use a led batten light.

For the other bays would I need 2x 150w high bay lights per bay, or would one in the middle of each bay be plenty?
I want good light so I can use the shed as a workshop when needed.

The shed is 9m by 12m and 3.5meters to the eves. So the bays are 9x4m

Cheers!

I find the high bay led lights very unpleasant to look at, their best suited to very tall industrial sheds and warehouses.

I love the light from frosted led batons that have 3 colour and 2 brightness settings.
My batons are set to their most yellow light on the low power setting and their still pump out loads of light.

Put a heap in to give you light from all directions it will reduce shadows.

Apologies Mate,,,,, At my age ya can't be too serious all the time,,,,,,,,,,,,
However,,, having spent many, many years in the trade and in "workshops" there is one thing definite.

Ya cannot have too much lighting.

If you are getting fluro then cool white and get dual lamps. I am not a fan of LED lights tbh, i prefer CFL. The CFL at cheap to run while led are cheaper still but they are not as bright... and when you look at it there is bees d1ck worth of saving in it

But the highbays if they are high enough are the brightest. You might be ok with 3.5m height.

this type you can install all you need is a run of cable with Gpo where you wish to plug in to
