What's in a "name" ?

Post by Die Judicii » 06 Dec 2020, 11:52 am

Anyone here care to expand on the reasons/origin of their user name ??

There are some real doozies out there.

Could make for some interesting/informative/hilarious reading ? :unknown:

Now I’m chopping and changing my rifles all over the show. Where does die Judy originate ? And everyone else please chip in to complete my curiosity

2003 Motorcycling Australia decided to follow World Superbikes and raise engine capacities to 800-1000cc instead of the 750cc limit for 2004. I raced Suzuki GSXR750's but I couldn't find a GSXR1000 at a decent price. In '03 we lost a lot of riders on the road, including a mate's father killed in a head-on with another bike. He was building a racebike for '04 but decided he needed time away from bikes, so he offered me his totally stock 2000 Honda CBR929RR Fireblade for a stupid price I couldn't refuse. I immediately joined a forum to learn about these Honda things and needed a name. The forum was quite small at the time, a few hundred members, but I was still surprised when the first name I put in came back as unused. Bladeracer was born from that and I've used it ever since.

The name of a fictional character in a book by an author whose name I forget.
Actually it was "The Last Juror" by John Grisham. I googled it. And Wm., stands for William, the connection being that my real name is Bill.

I was watching Moonshiners at the time and old JimTom was one of the fellas making shine and bootlegging. Although he spoke English he still had to be subtitled on the show.
Absolutely no connection to my name or anything. If I could I’d perhaps change it to something that I have put a bit more thought into.

Mine is pretty simple really, but for those that don't know Latin,,
Die Judicii is,,,,, in loose translation, "Judgement Day" and simply relates to,, One of these days I'll get my pound of flesh.

As the old saying goes,, "An elephant never forgets" , and I didn't like the Latin transcript of Elephant.
So Die Judicii is it.

Some call me Eddie, and i shoot.

Then i forgot my password to my account, so had to come up with a second account name. I like cz rifles and a friend just bought a 515. So figured that would do.

Lots of years ago my (then 4 yo) son met me at the back door after I’d had some play time in the workshop and he said, “You know dad, you sure are a noisy, noisy, noisy dad with all your smashing and crashing!”
It stuck lol

I guess mine came about while on holiday on the Gold Coast. I got some pest strips from the local supermarket.....(many years ago) and broke them open and put the broken bits into PMG cable pits, drains etc an waited till the cockroaches came flying out and running down the street. (the product in those pest strips was Dichlorvos and it has a rapid fumigant action in close quarters) My kids called me the bugman after that.
