The whole development of the GBR tourism industry came off the back of Bransford, Dyer, Woodbridge and before that Vic Vlassoff. The pioneers were the folk chasing the giant black marlin, the fish are still there and its on my bucket list!! Ive caught plenty of marlin but those giants are something else.

I remember hearing about the exploits of the Dyer’s as a kid. They were a American couple that moved out to Australia I think

Bob was a yank-pioneer in TV in Oz, Dolly was an Australian girl.

WOW! I'm new to hunting and this forum. Never thought I would see something like this here. Been to Cairns quite a few times . Still into gamefishing, did meet Chaz Chambers a long ago ago at Sydney Game club, he skippered and fished with Dyer. I fished on some nice rigs up there, a lot of Woodnut boats then, and others. Some are still getting around. Saw a nearly refurbed "The Judge" for sale a while ago. I was a kid but remember how awesome Cairns was in the early days, and still is.
