Darn iPhone cables

Post by Blr243 » 31 Dec 2020, 8:31 am

Non genuine work for a while but th phone eventually detects th non genuine and won’t accept it. ( forcing us to go buy th real thing ). So I had a gut full and I’m off to th shop. Do I need a genuine cable only or the little transformer box as well?

I've had 3 or 4 and a couple would only charge on an original charger.

I have had both genuine and woolies bought cables for my iPhone.
They mostly work well. I have had the occasional one that didn’t want to play, so it went into the bin quick smart.
I tend to buy my cables when woolies have their specials, my kids seen to find wonderful ways of losing or destroying them.

I buy the cheaper iPhone cables from ebay for the kids ipads/phones. Haven't had trouble with them not working. Did have trouble with some i got from big w though, they wouldn't work for one device but work for the other.
Can relate to bello with kids finding wonderful ways to destroy or lose them.

I had a problem with a phone charging intermittently turned out there was a bunch of dirt in the charging port, had a tech clean it out and it worked perfectly.

I have a cheap one at present which has been operating for about a month or so now, and functions most of the time. Occasionally it won’t charge as the iPhone doesn’t like it. Damn technology, they really have us over a barrel. I do sometimes wish I didn’t need a phone.

I hate short leads. But they are mostly what is avail. I have recently bought some non genuine leads from cash converters aka crime converters and they are so reliable I’m in fully charged heaven

Induction will probably work but I’m of the opinion they take forever to charge devices

Get an android. Couldn't be happier with my $280 Oppo. Twin-sim support, expandable memory, decent camera and all the usual frills.

Did I mention it was $280? Not 1100, not 750... 280. Unlocked, out the door, nothing to worry about. And it comes with charger, cable, headphones, gel case and screen protector. By iphone standards that basically means I'm getting a free phone by paying for the accessories.

And I don't have to worry about Apple's s**ty design charging cable with a sole male-input single-axis connector for crying out loud... I'll sit here happy with my $5 servo cable, thanks.

I'm an android guy, hate Apple's proprietary everything at massive prices, and lack of choice. But anyway, this isn't an apple bagging thread.

Don't pay a tech person to clean out charging port. Just turn the phone off, find something like a pin that fits inside to scrap all the crud out. Make sure you scrape along the bottom to ensure connector seats properly. Then give it a blow out with a straw or similar and you're all set. Sometime crazy how much lint and crud builds up in there

Just to expand on what Stu has said the same can be done for any other speakers and/or headphone jack to clean them out... I usually just use sim card tool that came with my phone.
