Successfully forged, hardened and tempered a 1 kg cross peen hammer for my blacksmith shop and still had time to try it out. It’ll make long sessions at the anvil easier on my right side than the oversized, makeshift thing I was previously using.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Started the sowing on the farm yesterday. Nutted out the new gps on the tractor. Two paddocks of canola in. A month to go.

I planted some forsythia plants, changed the water filters for the well water and today we actually have some sun and its supposed to be around 15C this afternoon, so I am going to go up to the range and clean out the closet, chop some wood, get my steel targets set up and maybe shoot a little. I should be getting parts tomorrow to build another AR-15 so I'll be working on that and will be building my first pistol soon once I get the rest of the parts ordered.

I did a field rifle comp in centrefire and rimfire on Saturday afternoon, did well. Trusty modified weatherby 223 and Cz 452 shot better than me
Went back to the range yesterday to play with some new toys , my hw60j weihrauch 22lr is running in exceptionally well, drilling one hole at 50 with sk standard plus ammo
My old standard 243 ctr Winchester is making MOA easy with handloads
Fired my new sako 85 in 270 for the first time. Ran the barrel in , only about 20 rounds through it so far. It shot .7” at 100 with crappy 130 gn PPU ammo. Very pleased, not a cheap rifle, but a quality piece that lives up to expectations

What a great weekend :D

BP, have you tried to call the stags using hose of some type?
I tried imitating the sound last week but I'm hopeless.

What is the grunt from that you're trying to imitate?

Edit: I think I might have done it, but not that loud. Fallow type croak?

Pete was right. Suck in through the mouth and nose making a piggy grunting/snorting sound.

smacked a fallow friday arvo with my 6mm ARC. Bumped into a nice boar n friends but long grass was an issue and a dog with no ticker. He briefly chased and grabbed but quickly let go when he realised his opponent had 60kgs on him and he had none of his usual mates to help.

Managed to spend sometime glassing some gorge country in NSW and spotted my first Sambar fawn, was left alone but great see in the wild. :drinks:

So long since I hunted fallow that I can’t remember how I used to call them. I do remember it hurt my throat , and it was unnatural for me and an effort

Went to the local footy with the kids yesterday, first time for a long time with the entire season cancelled last year, was great to see it again. Back on the tractor today, another week and a half should wrap up the sowing. Good start to the season on the farm so far.

I used a lump of 45 mm diameter axle. It was annealed before the forging started to avoid cracks.

I built an AR-15 lower and ran into an issue with putting a spring the wrong way but got it sorted out and it is running good. Also did some filming for the channel.

Got the first fire going in the fire pit on the mountain next to the shooting range. Instead of cooking I drove into town and got a pizza to eat by the fire instead.

Today I should have been productive but I was not, there was a lot of stuff to do. Next week I have visitors at the shooting range so need to cut more firewood and take the pressure washer up and give everything a wash down from winter so it's all nice and sparkly.
