Importing a firearm

Post by Shootermick » 03 Jun 2021, 7:42 am

Has anyone imported a firearm? Just looking at cat a/b. With the current wait times for some of these new guns to hit our shores, maybe a single import might be worth a look. Any dealers in Victoria that might be worth a call??

I imported two back in 2018.
It's an extremely expensive way to buy something that you can buy here, especially out of the US. Add about A$2000 to the purchase price by the time you have it in your hands from the US. Out of South Africa the export fee was only US$800. The freight from SA wasn't bad, about US$400 from memory. There was no import fee, but you will have pay your dealer to collect it from Border Force before it can be transferred to you.
I never priced trying to import out of Europe.
It also took five months from payment to having them in my hands.

Don't forget to add GST, it is even added to the postage.

I had a quote last year about $600 from the UK and $800 from the USA, costs between dealers in those countries can add another $50.

I've imported plenty from Germany and the USA. I can generally get stuff shipped from the USA in 8 days. Pretty cheap out of the USA too. Infact so cheap I got it new and cheaper than than the asshats at NIOA.

If you need details then PM me.

I’ve got onto a couple of dealers here in Vic who will do it. But price and more importantly wait times are a killer.
