Anyone here seen or found a "Coprolite"

Post by Die Judicii » 12 Jul 2021, 9:36 pm

A bit of a sh!tty topic,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,, but I'm seriously wondering if anyone has one, or has seen one.
I did actually have one,, and just recently discovered that it had disappeared while shifting house 8 years ago, along with my collection of core samples from
Hughenden.

Yes, if I recall correctly. But finding it in the shed would involve rummaging around in some sh1t. ;)

I myself have never passed a Coprolite by dint of avoiding eating such.

Hopefully Veganism is not involved ?

G'day Die Judicii,
I have, I once worked as maintenance foreman for one of the biggest suppliers of polished semi-precious gemstone in Australia, we had a 44gallon drum of Coprolites both local and overseas. We also supplied equipment and expertise to Dr Tom Rich of Melbourne Uni's Dinosaur Cove excavations from whom we sometimes recieved samples. I may still have a sample in the shed somewhere, Cheers

Why wouldn't they just call the crapolite? It a bit more self explanatory.

On the core samples, are you talking about diamond drill (exploration) core samples?

G'day Die Judicii,
Yes, it will take a polish, we used to make polished balls with larger pieces and they came up very good. Cheers.
