Our quince tree is loaded again but smaller this year. Picked 2 shopping bags to give to friends this morning.

Will pick the rest in about a week.
Stewed quinces and quince jam for us. Yum. Nan used to make the quince jelly when I was a kid. I looked forward every Easter to visit Nan and Pop and get a feed of scones with quince jelly and cream. Yum I think Nan loved her grand sons. :D

The rest will go to the local nursing home again.

Interesting, have you ever made rosehip jelly? We've got a ton at work and I believe they're super high in Vit C plus other goodies.

I lived on stewed apples and custard when I was younger (and loved it) - cinnamon and cloves still remind me of it 30yrs later!! Can take or leave quince jelly, but any other way....

Today I went out and retrieved a few of my cameras that I set up a week ago.
Good results boys and girls.
Pics of a definite dog,, a big feral cat,, a different (possible) cat,, and something very close to the camera that could be either a dog or a pig.
Said pic (white image) has ears that are pig like,,,,, but the tail looks like typical shortish dingo.

I'll let the armchair experts on here give their opinions

Seven pics

PS: don't take notice of the time/date stamps, cos I very rarely set them.

Also,,,,,, I wonder what the whiteish glow/light is between the two branches on the tree in the background in the top pic,, but is not there in the 2nd pic where the two branches are clearly seen and very distinct.

The subject in pic one is seriously overexposed, so maybe the transient glow is bounce from the subject.

Well I can report that the cat in the 2nd pic walking down the incline,,,, is no more.
Those HP .308's do a mighty fine job.
So much so I'm not game to post the pic.

Slim pickings again over night. One boar pig,, One very healthy fox,, and the cat.

Well,I'm off work for the day after a nasty fall onto my bad knee at the beach yesterday that left me flat on my back for a good 10 minutes in excruciating pain,so I've been going over my shooting bag for my 58 hawken and making everything neat and ready for action.

I made a small stand for my scales. Raising them closer to eye level makes them a little easier to read.

Winter is gradually turning to spring here with a lot of wind and variable temp swings from well below freezing to 15C and also a lot of variable precipitation from snow, ice balls to rain. I took the snowplow off as I figure any snow that comes down will melt fast as the ground is too warm now. Yesterday even though it was only a few degrees, the sun is noticeably higher in the sky now and if the sun is out, it adds some warmth.

With spring approaching I am trying to wrap up some projects. I have a few more 32 ACP rounds to load, maybe a hundred or so. Also hopefully wrapping up a 9mm project, 124g with Power Pistol powder. Next up will be working on some 300 Blackout subsonic with 220g Berrys bullets.

The chinese ash borer has taken it's toll on the ash trees here killing them off and the wind storms now are causing them to snap off at different weak areas where they have eaten through. Just had a big wind storm and have trees and branches down all over. Some of it I cleaned up yesterday and still have more to go. I don't really care if they fall down in the woods but a bunch of them are blocking the trails around the place so they have to be cleared in order to drive the roads.

It's warming up here and is going to crack 20C tomorrow, so I think winter now is starting to ease back and looking at the long range forecast if we have any further ice or snow it will probably be brief and at night. I'm looking forward to getting out and being able to do more shooting.

My uncle who also doubles as my usual fishing partner handed me a stack of fishing and shooting mags the other day. Mostly older stuff say 10yrs or so but still interesting to a newb like myself. Interesting seeing some of the current line up being advertised as new back then. Prices are a little less than now too

Interesting also reading current(ish) fishing mags and the names that are still around from when I used to read/buy them 10-20yrs ago and remembering old names that are no longer writing.

Not today, but yesterday, I was trimming trees for a client, and spotted a rub mark in a bit of scrub.....what followed next was an amazed wander through some of the freshest, prolific busk sign I've seen for years, all in about an acre of scrub in the middle of a vineyard....

Yeah Mate, She was definitely there.
She's a bit incontinent lately as in,,,,, her speed control has blown a series of diodes.
I ordered a new unit for her and got it yesterday,,, complete with an RCD Snubber which should see her regain continence,
and be back on the dance floor like a new woman.

It's always fun to go back to read old magazines because the passage of time gives 20/20 hindsight to the times those articles were written, the things that were talked about as the next big thing and so on.

Went hunting with the missus today, hoping to see deer on a block I've been hunting on for 35+ years so I brought my 58 cal, instead did a stalk in on a fox and bloody MISSED it at 50m :(
Then did a drive around some of the back blocks near where I grew up,beautiful country, collected some slippery jack mushrooms, then ended up at a local wetland/bird watching area that's absolutely riddled with bloody carp. Of course,no fishing or netting allowed....

Going way back up this page to the 1st pic you posted of the "Gut Hook Knife", where you say,,,,,,,,,,

But the blade is Stamped/Etched/Engraved > 12.4.23

And when I posted saying you must have a time machine, it was still only 11/04/2023
