bladeracer wrote:I was supposed to be driving to NSW today for the weekend shoot. But Rose got called in to work two days this week so she's already behind and I don't want to leave her here to process all this meat on her own, so the shoot is off for me. Looks like fun as they have Army and Air Force Cadets there for some shooting. Oh well :-)

My daughter moved her family to town ten minutes from me last week, and three of the four kids, and her mum, came down with Covid last weekend, so we don't want them coming to help either! Her boyfriend is commuting to work in Melbourne, which I think will wear very thin very quickly.

I came down with an infection yesterday so I spent today between sleeping and sitting at the computer moaning at not being at the LERAA shoot (they do keep up a decent commentary on FB with pics and vids), while Rose packed a small mountain of beef as the butcher processed it :-)

My daughter's boyfriend also came down with Covid but they're all over it now.

And we did find another bullet in the neck meat today. 190.6gn left in two pieces of the 240gn semi-jacketed soft-point .44 Mag, deformed to just over one-inch across.

I made a start on 3 new knives today.

I have three billets prepped to start, and got this Dao blade slicer to this point.

Loaded some 130gn speer hot cors over 45gn of BM8208 for my new howa super lite after discovering all my other 308w ammo wouldn't chamber due to it being only neck sized. Here's hoping she shoots well.

Thanks, Deye.

I've put that bevel down to midline, so that when I match it on the other side I'll have a preliminary edge.
I've learned to do the scales and a trial fit up with only one side. Lose too much claret otherwise

Trapped a couple of foxes that had both dug my traps last week.

Can become a personal battle between us! One had dug a trap and then p!ssed on it

Geez Pete, hope the wheel turns sometime soon and some good news happens for a change!

Nice Lazarus, what are you using for the scales? Always wanted to try knife making, just another thing to add to the list of gunnas

Re-located my old prime mover, my mate has retired and sold his yard so I had to move my truck, upset an awful lot of spiders! It's now in a paddock on a mates farm, might make a good hide for knocking foxes?

Flew up to gold coast Tuesday. Mrs hasn't seen MIL for 11 months. MIL is 94yrs and just moved to a nursing home. So, it's daily visits and catch ups with other family members. Lunches, coffee shops, etc.
Today it was a walk along the river. MIL was happy.

Now it's beer and chips while the snags cook. :drinks:

Did a bit of shopping yesterday and today with some birthday money, bought myself a stoney creek rain jacket and a moroka zero QR rifle sling for my pack(s). Looking forward to getting some of that weight off my shoulders!
