I thoroughly cleaned my Swedish Mausers today. Also swapped out the Mojo ring front sight on the M96 for a new standard blade. Still have the Mojo ring rear sight as I haven't found an original rear yet. As the M38 is scoped, I'm considering swapping its rear sight across to the 96.

I also realised that my left eye can focus the front sight perfectly, my right eye can barely even make out a blur. I tried some left-handed dry-fire and I have virtually no trigger feel for precision shooting.

So I want to try to make a "bent" buttstock for the Henry H001 so I can shoot right-handed using my left eye.

Today I finished a change "over/modification" on my Cruiser ute.

I removed the original Cruiser seats (the single and 3/4 seat) and in their place I've installed two brand new leather single bucket seats.

I also fitted a "Department of Interior" center console in matching trim to just make the job finished off nicely.

For some reason, they don't make center consoles for the single cab Cruisers,,,,, only for the twin cabs.
But,,,,, with a bit of patience and diligence I modified it and now it fits perfectly in my cab.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

Started up a 300 Blackout project I am filming for Youtube, 110g Hornady VMax with Win 296 powder. Made my first starting loads, one crimped, one not.

Also finishing swaging 9mm brass, been doing thousands of those. I'm swaging them due to crimped 9mm brass and also to uniform everything as the S&B primers have slightly wider dimensions than the CCI primers I usually use. I don't want any issues on the progressive press with jams. I should finish that today and then start the brass cleaning process.

Spent the morning unloading. 223 .234 & .22lr to shake off some of the rust I've developed from doing nothing but shotgunning.
Not entirely impressed with my consistency at first, both those centrefire rifles are capable of sub MOA but I was throwing them around a 3" spread @ 100 metres until I focused on all the little things that matter. Finished the session at about 1.5" then busted out the .22lr and sprayed the 100m gong followed by a couple hours of walking around sitting on warrens... no luck with the rabbits other than almost stepping on 2 of them, wasn't the best time of day to be doing that but I definitely needed a good walk (limp) to help improve my ongoing siatiac issue.
Spent the arvo punching out primers and tumbling brass and pigging out on nashi pears.

Just drove back from down the south-east, have spent the last couple of days fishing, shooting, and exploring between Port McDonnell and Carpenters Rocks. Collected a heap of flint for knapping, went to the Naracoorte caves, and camped under the stars. Now home again and we both have job interviews next week lol

It was mate. Planning to go there again asap.
Pretty keen to get a red deer property to hunt for the rut, first time in my deer hunting life that I've been free to hunt the rut, just need a place to go.

Thanks re the interviews. Jess has been trying to find a suitable job for a year and looks like she's got one,and I turned one down last week that just did not feel right, but I'm going for a butchers traineeship and I've made the short list so that's cool as hell.

Yeh, work always gets in the way of hunting.

You can supply the flints. LOL. Sounds like a very good move. Everyone needs to eat.

G'day,

I didn't do any low fence wires, but took the Stihl and cut up the several very large red gum boughs that were blown down before Christmas. I'll split it tomorrow. Thank God I've got a 60T hydraulic splitter; I couldn't split by hand nowadays.

I washed and dried another batch of 9mm cases and got a 38 Special reloading project rolling, video up on my Youtube channel.

It's been a very cold winter with ice storms so I haven't shot since around Christmas time. Temps are gradually warming around freezing but today is a freak day with warm winds out of the southwest and temps soaring to near 18C, so hopefully that will melt some snow and ice. Winter time is gradually easing it's grip which is good because it has been a difficult winter personally. I'm ready for warmer weather and spring.

wanneroo: "It's been a very cold winter with ice storms ..."

Ice storms sure make the trees look pretty, until the weight of ice breaks the trees [and sometimes the power lines too] and driving becomes a lottery as cars slide along at speed with no one actually being able to steer them on the black ice on the roads. I had a couple of road-skating slides in Indiana and Wisconsin years ago. Luckily we hit nothing solid.

I have Quattro and snow tires so I get around pretty good in winter.

I have not been able to snowshoe this year due to ice and wind. The snow pack was a mix of many layers of snow, ice, sleet, rain with many hard freezes plus with all the wind this year and dead ash trees, just didn't seem safe to venture into the woods. Hopefully before the season ends we will have a big snowstorm with a dump of fluffy snow and I can go out one time.

It sounds like you guys live on another planet, I've never even seen snow, to be honest I think I'd rather stick to the desert, I know I can handle 50°c heat from my time in theTanami and morning chills of -3 or -4 °c (just as long as the day warms up) but don't think I'd enjoy the crazy low temperatures some folks see, like -20c or colder.... that's some pretty extreme s**t.
I remember working with a Canadian exchange worker, I asked him how you go taking a piss outside in those conditions, he told me you learn not to, or if your caught out you just need to be really fast or it'll freeze off
He spoke about the dangers of sweating and how easy it was to get frostbite.
