Rott's Pendulum

I stumbled upon this youtube video today
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhZxdV2naw8
It is somewhat interesting in that it demonstrates in a physical way to me the chaotic group behaviour in the world we live in, irrespective of whether it is applied to small groups or large groups.

Never heard of the fellow until now. At my age I guess I am over trying to evaluate and understand human behaviour, either small ,large or individual. The video looks like an Ikea experiment gone wrong. Take no offense as to what I say, I am not ashamed to admit that it is beyond me.

Is this one of those "illusions" caused by it's own movement generating reactive force within the bench top, or "planet" that is then being returned into the system?

That is tops,,,,,,
Reckon I might build one for the office desk.
They used to call these sorts of things "Executive Toys"

But when it's all boiled down it is simply an extended luxury version of the glass "drinking giraffe"

But,,,,,,,,,, they still havn't successfully made a perpetual motion machine/gadget.

That's cool, cheers for sharing it. I wonder how it behaves when changing the mass of the swinging arm etc

I'm curious to see what it does when it's not clamped to the table.
