And where o where will PETA stand on this one ?

Post by Die Judicii » 24 Jan 2022, 6:57 pm

I was talking to a rather large stakeholder in prime Victorian sheep country yesterday.
He was saying that (unsure whether this is actually legislated or not yet) that moves have been or are being made with regard to the shooting
of livestock in the immediate aftermath of a bushfire.

Apparently farmers are now, or will be,,,,, not allowed to shoot any of their stock that have been badly burnt but still alive after a fire,,,,, UNLESS a
Government specialist Vet is present to say yay or nay for each individual "burnt" animal.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I can't help but wonder where PETA will stand on this particular piece of lunacy.

I mean,,,,, seriously,,,,,, Can any one with half a brain imagine farmers shooting any of their stock that don't really need to be shot ?

And to top it off,,,, just imagine the unnecessary hours of pain animals would be subjected to while awaiting the Government Vet to arrive ??
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

I think the cocky was taking out of his arse... or someone was taking out of their arse to him

Eventually I will train myself to not actually hear certain lunacy, rather than process and discard it

One day I will too. Today is not that day, apparently. But one day it will be.

I don't even think state Labor parties could come up with nonsense that bad. Some people are just desperate to see themselves as victims.

I heard stories like that around here after the bushfires, that landowners were dropping their stock "illegally" rather than leave them to burn, but Police were apparently ignoring it due to the circumstances. I have no idea what makes it illegal, provided the carcasses are lawfully disposed of, you can't just leave them in the paddocks to rot.

I helped pick up 100’s of dead sheep years ago after the Grampians fires. Only the odd one was still alive, and it had to be shot, but the rest were just piled up in corners of the paddocks and scattered around, this bloke would have lost 95% of his stock. He never got over it and sold out a few years later.
At another farm there was a vet onsite deciding which ones got shot and which ones didn’t.
No farmer wants to see their stock suffer, shooting a sheep, even one, doesn’t give you a good feeling. It’s just done as part of the job.
But when you have to do it in the 100’s I think a farmer would be the best judge of what to do with their own stock in the aftermath of a disaster. And if overcome by the situation, then that’s when you hope neighbours and mates come in to help.

Yep,,,,,,, I spent days on a fire truck during the Ash Wednesday fire in the Sth East of SA.
And also mopping up after the main event,,,,,, and the amount of cattle and sheep that were severely burnt that were still standing in shock
was an experience I never wish to see again.
Cows in particular that at 1st glance appeared to be reasonably well,,,,, but on closer inspection had their udders virtually burnt off.
