Australia to provide powder for 155mm artillery shells

Australia to provide powder for 155mm artillery shells going to Ukraine

French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu said France and Australia had agreed to cooperate to make "several thousands" of 155-millimeter shells to help Ukraine, which he hoped could start being delivered in the first quarter of this year.

Lecornu was speaking after meeting his Australian counterpart Richard Marles, the first joint high-level talks since the submarine row erupted. Australia will supply the powder while France's Nexter will make the ammunition.

I think that will put powder for Aussie consumers on the back burner :(

Doesn't really matter if that's where all their efforts are going to be directed at making.

I have a suspicion they don't use gunpowder as we know it.

I did read an article a few years ago that claimed they used TB as an initiator to detonate the main charge.

I wonder if their coming out of the new QLD artillery plant?

Planning and approval

https://www.australiandefence.com.au/ne ... hell-plant

Construction begins

https://asiapacificdefencereporter.com/ ... ing-plant/

First shells produced ..

https://www.australiandefence.com.au/de ... -australia

It looks like they might have developed a powder plant of their own in Germany... could be wrong, but a few leads on the net seem to point that way.

I'd bet that the amount of propellant required to fill bulk quantities of115mm shells would be beyond ADI's capability :unknown:

In shells of that size (and bigger) an amount black powder is used to guarantee the ignition of the main charge as it’s easier to get to ignite.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

I wonder of just one well placed small ball of lead in Putin's ear hole could end the war ?

Pretty good chance that when Pootin dies, his replacement will have an even more advanced case of syphilis making him more ruthless and crazier than tge current syphilific freak running the show now.

I wonder what it's like living in Russia under Putin? Standard of living etc.

I follow some Russian people on Youtube that like to document their day to day lives and travels. Seems like most other countries, some people are wealthy, some are poor, most just live their lives as we do. I think overall their standard of living is not as high as ours, buildings look run down, vehicles look old, roads are rough, but they seem happy enough.

Garage54 does some pretty entertaining stuff mechanically, and I do wonder how they pay for it all.

The green Western politco won't take Putin out because they would have no-one to blame for shortages in oil, gas, etc. He is the perfect scaremongers excuse.

Watching someone on YouTube is not the same as living with 20 pissed uzbeks next door fighting every night.

The great thing is you can buy Barr's Irn Bru and my uncles scotch whiskey even in the remote parts. I even became partial to kvas. Which you can buy in Victoria along with sushki and palemini.
