Thank you Oldbloke. Enjoyed that very much. Who would have thought that under all those years of Spencerian gaucherie, that man was trying to get out.

MC is obviously a favourite of yours so here is one of mine. I apologise if it has been posted earlier

Yes, I can imagine MC banging away trying to get out of the comedy room to the theatre.

Anna is just fantastic.

IMO Media just doesn't seem to promote this stuff like it should.

Nice, Wm.

I first heard the Blue Danube about 1969 I guess, i think at the Footscray picture theatre watching 2001, a space odyssey. I would have been about 14. It had a huge impact on me at the time. I still love it.

Yes, the youtube ads are much worse lately. They are biting the hand that feeds them. A great example of company greed out of control.

G'day,

I collect versions of the Chaconne, a solo violin piece that forms the fifth and final movement of the Partita No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004, by Johann Sebastian Bach. It's also been transcribed for piano. It's very complex and not likely to be heard in Andre Rieu's concerts. [To some it will sound like a bunch of cats screaming on the back fence.]

I also love Der Erlkoenig [The Earl King] a song by Franz Schubert setting a poem by Johann Von Goethe. It's also been transcribed for piano and violin solo.

I accidentally lost my (unfinished) reply, Jim, so here is a quick one.
Wikipedia was a help with both. Johannes Brahms had a very deep appreciation of the Chaconne and I wonder why Goethe wrote that piece of poetry? These sorts of investigations could be fascinating if one had time. Perlman's skill is beyond my level of education but of course, it was very good and Prey is a proven performer :) More listening is in order, especially to Schubert.

There's a reason you rarely see a fat drummer

Watch this guys feet.
While he's doing 20 different things with the sticks, he's playing four symbals and bass drums at the same time with his feet.

It took all my coordination not to fall over just watching.

This is a small sample of my favourite musician/singer/poet of all time, Mr Tom Waits.

If you read this Wm.Traynor, I asure you, nothing offensive, I hope you find something you like.
