Google trying to ban adblockers

Post by JohnV » 19 Oct 2023, 8:41 am

If you are being harassed by google because you have uBlock Origin ad blocker then there is a fix that is working for me at teh moment .
Right click Ublock origin and open the settings dashboard down in the right hand corner then select my filters and cut and paste this filter code in.

youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false)

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0)

youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw_player_response.adPlacements, [])

youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true)

Click apply changes .

Yes i was enjoying ad-free Youtube for years then got hit with their 3 strike rule last week.

I use Chrome, the above workaround stopped working for me so the following thread seems to have the most workable solution which is currently working for me touch wood... https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/c ... r_16_2023/

Screw Google.... use Duck Duck Go, I found it to be a much friendlier search engine.

Unfortunately I've had to switch back to Google because my partner thought I was using it to hide my internet activity  , she's a pain in the ass thanks to a load of baggage she has been carrying.
Using Google I find imagine searches suck because I can't zoom in properly for some reason and li get oads of pop up ads

I've never used an adblocker, but with Youtube I download videos and watch them in my own time, no ads. Then I either save them or delete them. I rarely watch anything via the platform interface. Dailymotion is even worse for ads, and are significantly slower to download.

i use yewtu.be instead of youtube. all the same videos, no ads. i thought it was pretty dodgy at first but a friend of mine who works in tech says he uses it as well, so that settled that. i recently got blocked from youtube because of the adblocker, and because i morally refuse to either turn off the adblocker or pay for the "premium" version i just ended up deleting my account.

The filter script above stopped working this morning but I did a browser update and it's working again . uBlock Origin still on and youtube still working with no adds or annoying intrusions . Google war continues .

I was blocked again a couple of days ago. Latest fix that worked for me using Ublock was to add this https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ub ... ers/14.txt in import. Work 100%

Video's blocked again, Pop-up warning no longer showing & Play button showing but doesn't function. "Update Filters" in Ublock worked for me.

This is all great for those watching content for free. I'm not sure what business model going forward the content owners or platform providers are going to use.

Ublock still works for me, every few days when Youtube videos are broken go to the [Filter lists] tab and select > "Purge all Caches" and "Update now".

uBlock Origin doesn't seem to be available for Android.
Any suggestions?

Not sure, i use Windows. Jump over to Reddit and search for a potential option, if there's one available someone would have written about a solution for it there.

Don't have a forward button. I'm on Android mobile.
