Weather woman

G'day,

When that weather woman [Jane Bunn] on Channel 7 in Melbourne says if you're under a thunderstorm you'll cop it, she's right! We just copped 14+ mm with lots of 1/4"+ hail in about 20 minutes. We were watching the radar and saw the storm coming from the NW through Ballarat and decided to get the horses rugged in a hurry. We just got them rugged and it hit. At least our hay paddocks should kick on from this; it was starting to get a bit dry.

Looking at the radar there are two more storm cells to come. At least it's cooled down a bit. I guess no foxing tonight. I'm allergic to lightning and sitting out in a paddock holding a longish metal tube makes no sense.

It appears that I am a little north of you, about 45km ESE of Bendigo. We have only had 3.1mm but it came down in one big dump over about 15mins.

Yes there is a lot of Jane to go 'round. The other weather 'girl' is a little too ectomorphic [scrawny] for my liking. I do like "praying mantis alien hybrid".

Sarco we missed the follow-up rain I expected and the storm that hit us didn't seem to go much further according to the rain amounts shown on the BOM radar map this morning. More rain is predicted from about midday. I'll be happy to get some more to keep the hay crop growing. I'm not ready to cut yet.
