Wage Theft Laws now Criminalized

Post by Billo » 08 Dec 2023, 7:21 am

I see the current Govt has stood up to big Business and has criminalized Wage theft from employees

Long over due as workers who stole have been brought before the courts and jailed.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes to jail a boss or 3 :drinks:

And about time.

It's always done my head in. The way it's always been is if you steal from a company it's always been straight in front of the judge. Company steals from you, your on your own.

Will it apply to superannuation theft too? Thats a very common practice.

Not sure old bloke but a young Irish neighbour of mine got fleeced $17k from his boss, full time floor layer lost his last months pay and more than 12 months Super, went thru all the avenues to recuperate, got orders made and it was all a waste of time. Will wait to see the finer details next year

As I would expect, pissing into the wind. If it was reversed he would have been in front of a judge within a few months + pay back all the dollars + interest. And a session in jail as well.

I've seen super theft many times. Knew a bloke lost almost 2 years worth. And a couple tried it on me as well. But I got onto it pretty quick. Always checked
every 3 months for the credit/payment.

Why has the current government done this?
Why haven’t the previous governments done this?

Outlawed in Vic mid 2021.
And long overdue. No guesses as to who fights these changes.

You just have to look at who is leading to country. Here is a good example.

Honestly, is he concerned about Joe worker? Or his wealthy mates?

Yet, dudes like him keep getting elected. Says some thing about the IQ of the average Aussie.
