What's in a smell ?

Post by Die Judicii » 02 Feb 2024, 10:29 pm

Next time your out bush,,, or driving along a road and come across a rotting carcass and it's stinking to high heaven,,,,, consider this.

A "smell" is actually composed or made up of microscopic particles of the carcass itself that have become airborne.

Usually most people, when they first get a whiff of it,,,,,,,,,, take a further sniff and then say something like "Jeez, that stinks, what is it ?"

If your a bit weak in the stomach,,,, appreciate the fact that you've just ingested part of that rotting carcass. :wtf: :problem:
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.

Actually its mainly the bacteria. It's the bacteria and their waste products that stinks.

I can't smell so have no idea what you're talking about :-)
I'm convinced the whole world is having a laugh just for my benefit every time they pretend to be able to smell stuff.

Rose can smell if a fox has been through the paddock in the mornings, apparently.

I try to avoid using them.

Let's take it into the grim zone ...

Consider the safety precautions first responders take when they deal with advanced decomposition of human corpses due to extreme bio hazard that exists form simply breathing the air on the scene.

I was sat next to what I thought was a beehive one day when out calling up foxes, next thing the wind changes and I realize that the "dead tree" that was in the tall grass near me was in fact a dead grey horse covered almost entirely by blowflies, the smell was less than tolerable, many a dry heave was had.
