Who would do this sh1t?

Post by Oldbloke » 15 Apr 2024, 1:34 pm

This mornings excitement, about 9.40am.

I pulled up near my hunting area (perfectly legal SF in fringe area) for a leak and rest break after a 2hr drive. (Minor dirt rd)

Car is driving towards me, so I zip up and move car to side of road.
Car stops in my blind spot so I open window and wave him on.
Nothing.
So, I wave him on again.
Still nothing.
Thinking he wants to chat I get out and he is taking photos with a mobile.
He speeds off.
I slowly follow and he stops in driveway of 3 different farms. Each time i catch up and he speeds off.
He hits the bitumen and heads towards town.

After that I went and set up camp.

Any thoughts?

Who knows OB?
Lots of weird units about.
Maybe there's been break -ins in the area, strange car parked on the road might make a local wonder.

Was he snapping you or your car?

Does your vehicle look like a red neck hunter's wagon? If not then suspicious behaviour such as you describe should be reported to the police before airing on a forum.
I hope you retained rego and car details.

Snapping the car.
I think me when I got out.
Didn't get his rego.
4x4 ute. STD. No extras, just a light bar.

I did wonder about local breaking.

Had some freak walking his dogs take my photo recently while both the wife and I were stopped by National park gates, at first I felt quite offended and thought seriously about ramming his phone down his throat but settled on being happy that there's a few sticky beaked Karen's out there keeping an eye out.

Or spotlighting, rubbish dumping or other stuff going on in the bush.

I’ve started taking photos of cars parked illegally outside our house on double lines at a crest so when I go to the council to complain I have evidence to back it up. Or if there’s an accident I can help the innocent party.

Mehh someone buzzed me with a drone last week while hog deer hunting on a game reserve I watched the drone head back to the location of the farmhouse. Breaking a bunch of CASA and game regs isn't so smart.

That would really s1t you.

Fuk I hate drones. Was away couple of weeks ago and Mrs said there was one hovering over our back yard. (again)

I've seen it before. If it happens when I'm in the back yard he won't go back home. It'll be in my bin. Some some bastard knocks on the door asking I'll return it.....in little bits.

Back on track. Spotlighting could be it.
Last year I was here and some bastard was shooting about an hour after dark. Fair few shots from a public road/track. Could just make out tail lights. No spotlight to be seen so NV or IR I guess.

The fallow numbers are definitely a lot lower than couple of years ago.

If your eyes can see it in a publicly accessible area you can legally film it without any "permission" required as there is no presumption of privacy in public. No point risking an assault charge over it.

One of my nutter ex girlfriend s was always filming people without their knowledge or permission, and always making trouble and constantly getting herself into trouble I think it’s rude. Mid fifties and still acting like a child

Yes, we know it's legal.
But yes your right, it's rude.

Just by chance I found that dude today. But he knows. I stopped and looked at car and at him. Was in a farm yard near house.

I am going to assume that there had been break ins or ilegal hunting in the area. Or the bloke could just be some kind of weirdo. Perhaps even some kind of mistaken identity where he thinks you are someone else.
