I dont understand.....

Post by bigpete » 18 Aug 2024, 3:32 pm

.......why city folk move to a small country town ( or even a decent sized country town ) then piss and moan because aforementioned country town doesn't provide the amenities and services that they're used to in the city,so then they carry on and on to get said amenities and services installed in said country town, until said country town becomes the city they left in the first place. Boggles my mind

Yep sounds like certain ethnic groups that leave a country then turn the new country into what they left and want to move again ? Both groups are like viruses.

Or like the city people who buy in the country next to a pig farm or dairy farm and then start harassing the farmers through the local shire/council because of animal noises/smells.
My stance on gun control depends on firearm, caliber, wind, and obstacles.

Or people who buy houses in or next to vineyards because of some romantic notion they have in their head about vineyards, only to discover that they ate actually a business that runs heavy machinery and sprays chemicals at odd hours of the day and night....

The shooting range in Brisbane commies are complaining about the noise yet when the range was built it was all just farms. Now due to urbanisation there are houses near by.

How about take suppressors out of cat R?

Grass is greener on the other side. People contemplating a move to the bush are aware the access to all their city services will be compromised but the lure of the tranquility dominates their thoughts … and then after a while they begin missing what they used to have

There is a very big divide between country people and those from the cities that move out and take their opinions, socialist voting crap and lack of consideration for others away from the ****** they created.
For example, a 7000 acre joint near us was bought by a mine worker, and every weekend there are any number of groups of blokes on R&R constantly shooting the joint, also shooting up and down the roads running through it, shooting over fences into other people's places. Even intimidating the other users of the road who are running farming businesses who need to use the road by tailgating them at night blaring rooftop spotties into the vehicles, go nowhere without full eskies of XXXX cans at any time of the day or night. And then they get all angry with the people who've lived here all their lives when the stock squad is sitting out at night waiting for them because people have had enough of the disrespect.

This has caused everyone else on this 60km long road to ban any shooters from coming on. It has basically changed everyone's opinion of city shooters as inconsiderate, dangerous criminals, like it or not. What used to be a place where Dads used to take their kids out for a hunting/camping weekend, has now changed.
It's not getting any better, as the opportunities for people are shrinking. Definitely ruining it for those who really deserve a go hunting ethically and responsibly.

sadly , the aussie of old is extinct .facebook and inner city socialist politics has killed off old school . i've read a lot of your posts about self centered @rsholes who move out to the regions and whinge and the halfwit drunken fly in/out workers with a bad attitude to locals . not everyone is like that , just most
i've developed a good reputation with the bush folks i know through common courtesy ,decency and respect .
there's a lot to learn out bush , but sadly a lot of people are rude entitled know-it-alls. makes it hard for a outer suburban tradie like myself to get onto properties , even though i do right . bloody sad

90% of people are fine.
However.
The other 10% include:
Those that think the rules don't apply to them.
Those that are incredibly selfish.
Those that have a very low IQ.

And it isn't likely to change.

I hate running into city folk when everything is a competition with them. Just did a first aid refresher today for work, had some blokes from melbourne on it. We are all FIFO workers btw. Everything was a competition for them, quizzed me on my job, marital status, asked which car was mine in the carpark, it was like this stuff all had to be laid out so they could figure the pecking order.Even went as far to say Melbourne weather is actually better than North QLD due to various reasons( maybe it is to some people, I really dont care), The North Qlders were talking good fishing spots, the melbournians were comparing house sizes. I guess thats what they do in the city. :unknown:

Mate you nailed it . That’s the modern suburban citizen to a T . There are exceptions , but you describe the modern culture very accurately. Gold coaster’s are even worse in my opinion. I live in a blue collar area, so most people aren’t too bad. But the closer you get to Brisbane or the Gold Coast the more of an attitude people seem to have. That’s why I like going bush. Soon as you get out to Toowoomba people seem to be more decent. But there are bad apples in every barrel everywhere you go. Just a lot more ignorant entitled ones in the cities

many times getting access to areas are is just put a little bit of sweat in it is worth more then money

Absolutely. Due to the actions or trespassing and poaching, a lot of people in the bush have a closed door policy these days. The other big concern is allowing people onto your property then getting sued when they do stupid things to themselves

As a gun owner who has never done a mass shooting or been involved in criminal activity but gets molested by the government for the actions of others it is hypocritical of me to paint everyone with the same brush but here we are. The disconnect between the commies in the city and the people of the regions is growing by the day. Why can't people just leave other people alone so they can live their life how they choose? Is that such a hard concept to understand?

its the sad thing about Australia, despite the outback reputation, I think 3/4 our population lives in just a dozen coastal cities. They have the weight of numbers. Its also the strength of the US, more autonomy at state and county level, large rural populations for the latter outweigh some of the city madness

G'day all,

It's been my observation that many city people come to the sticks to live, but don't last more than a couple of years. We - south of Ballarat - have seen many families buy a small acre block and sell up in 2-3 years many after making bloody nuisances of themselves by turning their dogs [or children on trail bikes] loose to roam. Their logic being that they believe there are no rules or restrictions in the country and [as one Richard told me after his dog charged my horse] you can do whatever you want. I also think some city folk are poor planners and don't consider logistics. Specifically if you run out of fags getting in the car and driving 10 miles or more into town costs a fair bit of petrol just for one item. In cities there are shops around the corner so supplies are never far away. Planning one's trips into town is essential if you live out a bit so you get all needed supplies in one trip. Some of those who come to rural areas are also Bambi-lovers brought up on Disney fairy tales and don't have a clue about animal husbandry, so they get into [expensive] strife. Uncut bull calves and ungelded foals may be cute when very young, but bloody dangerous pests as they get older.

That’s changing fast. And it’s not so much overseas immigrants, people have been moving here in droves for the weather, lifestyle, and cheaper housing. If you can find a house to rent or buy. When I was a kid, there was just bush for about 30-40ks before you hit the Gold Coast, and the pacific highway was one lane each way. Now it’s pockets of housing estates everywhere, movie world and all the tourist cr@p. Honestly, the south east section of Queensland has probably changed the most in the whole country in the last 40 years, and I don’t like it. I grew up in Logan halfway between brissie and the goldie, and it was very rural when I was young. I keep praying I win big on the lotto and retire out bush on 2000 acres. Tenterfield or crows nest would do me fine. And I don’t have spoilt kids with trail bikes, or annoy the p!ss out of neighbours with selfish behaviour . Better go buy another ticket for tonight’s lottery draw

The great thing about living bush is the neighbours 10 year old cranking up the 1987 RM 125 going round and round their 5 acre block Sunday morning at 7am. Fabulous stuff.
