Anyone using SSAA insurance for their firearms?

Post by Redwood » 07 Sep 2013, 10:46 am

I see the SSAA look to be ramping up their advertising for their firearm insurance.

My home contents insurance includes it anyway, not sure why anyone with existing insurance would pay for more? You can't claim it twice...

Anyone drop their existing insurance for it... or... ?

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know some insurers do not cover firearms in their home and contents policies.

If your insurer does cover you gear, great. If not, this additional firearms insurance is where you go.

My insurer does cover my rifles in my regular contents policy. Humorously there is a clause in the paperwork that they don't cover for fire or damage as a result of discharging a firearm indoors

Hmmm, that's a worry.

I bet there are plenty of people who haven't read their insurance thoroughly and don't know their guns aren't insured.

I believe others only cover up to a certain amount without additional cover too.

Usually these limited cover things are pretty low too, could be only $1,000 or something.

Have $10,000 worth of firearms/accessories stolen and they only give you $1,000 back...
