Anyone keep fish?

Post by sooey » 18 Sep 2013, 9:17 pm

One for the off-topic section... :D

The misses is hassling me for some "girl friendly" decorations around the house and as another topic getting a pet of some sort...

Fish seems like a logical answer to solve both problems.

There are bugger all pet stores near me though so I'm a bit lost for advice...

Anyone who keeps fish got some feed back? Probably looking for a good size tank if we go ahead... 1/2 cubic metre or something I guess...

Cheers.

Years ago... If you have a little tank with a few goldies or whatever in them it's easy.

Big tank like you're talking about though can be tonnes of work though... Be prepared lol.

No, but the few people I know with them seem to do nothing but bitch about how much work keeping a big tank is :D

Used to have a big tank of tropical fish back at the family home. We got rid of it because of the upkeep.

Constantly having to refresh water, get in their and clean it, replacing dead fish :?

This was a pretty big tank though, 2m wide x 1m high or something like that.

A little tank might be ok.

+1 from me.

Only thing I can remember from people talking about their pet fish is how they die all the time.

Get em straight from the market and save yourself buying the tank :D

Well the missus doesn't muck around.

A new tank is on the way and it's a monster. Nearly 2 cubic metres

Hell of a starter for a hobby. I'll just be sure to be at the shooting range when it's due for a clean :D

Check out cichlids, they are fairly easy to keep and look really impressive. Fresh water marines.
