A snapshot of the Australian shooting community (Sep 2014)

Post by Aster » 24 Sep 2014, 2:23 pm

This may not be of interest to everyone but I thought I'd post it for any who are curious. We use Google Analytics on the forum which provides a little information on the demographics of our visitors. Based on the last 10,000 unique visitors to the site this is who we're made up of.

Location
  • Victoria: 28%
  • NSW: 26%
  • QLD: 21%
  • WA: 11%
  • SA: 7%
  • TAS: 3%
  • ACT: 2%
  • NT: 2%
Age
  • 18-24: 7%
  • 25-34: 33%
  • 35-44: 20%
  • 45-54: 20%
  • 55-64: 14%
  • 65+: 6%
Gender
  • Male: 91%
  • Female: 9%
So there you go. That's a snapshot of who we are.

You're right, there would be some under 18 visitors to the site of course. I suspect the information isn't gathered/reported as part of Google privacy policy or something along those lines. That's just a guess though.

As I understand it, the broad strokes of how it 'knows' is based on information people have entered into their Gmail accounts, Google+ social networking, Google Adsense interactions etc. and that's anonymously provided in Analytics for webmasters.
See you on the firing line.

I wonder how describing myself as a bondage loving, goat worshipping, leather clad female with no preferred sexuality has skewed their statistics?

Mind you, even though I did it to protest the "required fields" it did tend to draw some strange replies to my chainsaw ad on Gumtree................... some texts you definately DON'T want to reply to.
